How many masks did it take to find the one?

Post by Tom2572 » Sun Jul 07, 2019 5:58 pm

Hi All - I've had my APAP machine for 10 nights and I'm already feeling a thousand times better. If there are any Lord of the Rings fans out there, I feel like Theoden after the spell was released and he instantly looked 30 years younger. That said, I'm struggling with my DreamWisp Nasal CPAP mask. It's very comfortable, but the slightest bit of pressure it puts on the bridge of my nose bothers me in a way I can't seem to explain so I need to try something else. I'm going to try a nasal pillow next, either the DreamWear Gel Nasal Pillow or the new ResMed AirFit P30i Nasal Pillow. Any recommendations on one over the other? And how many masks did it take you to find the one you use now?

9 for me.

But you can skip all that and just go straight to the Bleep DreamPort. No straps and no leaks. :D

I liked it so much, I bought the company! (well, I made it my avatar - that's all I could afford... )

The very first one. I did lots of reading, researching and measuring the various masks (weren't as many available back then) before selecting this one. It's in my profile (below). I've (briefly) tried a few others since, but my UMFF is the "one and only".

On another note.........the "bed pillow" can make a huge difference in how well the masks work for people.

I tried four, found the N-20 but my leaks were high. Tried maybe 4-5 more went back to the N-20 but got the "for her" size which works much better, the best I've found for me. I use the dream-wear nasal as a back up.

I've used 6 masks in 14 years, I could force all of them to treat me, but with limitations, many here give up it if out of the box doesn't cut it. Many are so far in De-Nile they can't even breath without the mask or XPAP being blamed for their everything that has every went wrong in their life. Jim

Those of us who are excessively manly men
may not be best served by the bleeper.

There are alternatives, and, there is a support group for the unfortunates.
Best not discussed in this public venue however.

I quit counting at fifteen. I like to try new masks that come out, but I always come back to my F20. I am still looking for the "perfect" mask, but it has been very elusive up to this point.

F20, N20, P30i, now P10... P10 is my go-to mask for comfort. I can wear it all night without waking up.

4

Started with N20
Tried an F20, could tolerate full face mask
Got a P10 - Love it
Tried the n30i (preferred the p10 and went back to it)

Thinking of trying the p30i

For me about 4, but when I found the Mirage Quattro™ Full Face Mask with Headgear, that was the one for me.

I get clogged up overnight (sinuses) & if I'm not wearing a full face mask, I will be mouth breathing into the air, by morning..
