Received my new Resmed s10 auto yesterday

Post by kempo » Fri Jun 10, 2016 4:28 pm

Medicare approved my new s10 and my DME called me to pick it up yesterday. I have been using the Resmed FX pillow mask for the past 6 years but you're always looking for that perfect mask. I tried on a several different mask and the Dreamwear mask felt great. I got 7 hours of good sleep last night. I loved the s9 but I'm thinking the s10 is going to out shine it.

Does anyone use the MyAir website to track your sleep? I thought that it was neat to look at on my iPhone this morning for just general information. I didn't have any idea the s10 would do that.

Congrats on the new machine. Love my s10 autoset. My perfect mask has been the F&P Zest Q.

The MyAir web site gives very basic information only. It's OK for a quick check to see how you're doing, but it will not give detailed information like you can get from sleepyhead software. The best thing about it is your DME can use it to verify compliance for medicare purposes. It also allows your doctor to monitor your treatment to see if it is effective without the need to take your machine or SD card in to be checked.

I scored a 97 out of 100 last night. My biggest problem is I'll wake up once or twice a night with a dry mouth which means I'm losing air through my mouth. Probably should start using a chin strap. Any ways I'm liking this bit of information Resmed is sending me everyday.

Have you tried using a foam cervical collar? I could not find a chinstrap I liked. I now use a foam cervical collar at night and my dry mouth has stopped.

No, I haven't. I'll check that out. Thank for the tip.

..and as I'm just finding out they have a limited life. My collar has just got a bit too saggy and the leak periods are going up. Time for a new one, at least they are cheap and so much better than a chin strap.

I'm a very hot natured person and I'm just afraid it would be too hot for me to use.

I am curious to know if chin strap will work if my mouth doesn't open but lips just leak sometimes with increased pressure.

Anyone else suffer this? No loose lips jokes please....

Well how can a strap work if your lips are still open... why not try taping instead?

Yes I'm sure that would work. But I kinda like to be able to talk without Untaping...

Chin-up strips. When correctly applied, you can still talk, but it is very funny.

I had the same problem, although sometimes my mouth opened a little. I use a wide (about 4") chin strap and let one edge push up against my lower lip. This seemed to help me not leak through my lips. It was the only solution that I found. I do not like the smaller chin straps and especially the ones with a hole for the chin (these hurt, digging in under my chin). Good luck, I kept waking when I had each lip leak, now I don't have that problem.
