Barrel Cozzy by Pad a cheek

Post by Starscream » Mon Dec 02, 2013 12:55 pm

Ok I like my bedroom cold, and by cold I mean below 60 degrees. Obviously this leads to rain out in the mask. What I am wondering is given my bedroom is so cold, is it worth the money to get the cozzy hoping that it will fix the rain out on the few nights a week that I have it?

we keep our house at 64 degrees at night.

I use a hose cover year round..... it elminates the medical feel of the hose. After all, doesn't it all come down to comfort while sleeping?

When I bought mine back in mid February 2011...it was well worth it for the remaining cold weather we had plus it was so comfy I used it pretty much year round because it felt so nice against the skin.
BTW I am still using that same cozy but now I have it on my Tap Pap barrel. Doesn't fit perfect but it works.
Looks like the devil after all this time. I need a black one so it doesn't show the grime.
Probably the best money I have ever spent on a comfort feature. The Padacheek barrel cozy has been worth its weight in gold for me.
I didn't get a chance to get a heated hose until last winter.
Using a heated hose now and with my preferred cold bedroom...sometimes I would still get a bit of condensation at the mask level so the barrel cozy still helps. I put it back on the barrel of the Tap Pap about a month ago when things started getting cold and I started getting a few drops of water roll out of the vent holes onto my cheek.

If you don't like it...I would be surprised.

I didn't see the Swift FX barrel cozy at the cpapshop.
I saw the Swift LT barrel cozy. Did I miss the barrel cozy for the Swift FX?
They aren't the same thing. The Swift LT nasal pillow and the Swift FX nasal pillows aren't made exactly the same. Similar but not the same.
There's a reason Karen at Padacheek offers the 2 separately.

If you can't change it and it won't work...Maybe I can buy it from you as I have been wanting that one for my Tap Pap barrel.
The Swift FX barrel cozy doesn't fit it quite as good as the Swift LT cozy..at least that's what Karen says.
That way you won't be wasting your money.

That's the right one. I must have just overlooked it on the website.
They seem to have it shown with fuzzy side next to the skin. Fuzzy side should be away from the skin and the "slick" side of the material touching the skin. When you get it you will see what I mean. The "slick" side feels almost like silk against the skin.
The Padacheek label needs to be away from and not touching the skin. When the cozy is properly fitted with fuzzy side in towards the silicone the label can't be seen. It isn't horribly annoying to have it touch the skin but you want it away from your skin so that there is no little "ridge" from the label.

Karen makes several colors. Mine is grey on the outside and white on the inside.
I think I have a brand new blue one somewhere in my stash. Someone gave it to me when they changed from Swift FX to the Aloha if I remember right. I have not used it as the old but grimy gray one still works and didn't want to butcher it for my Tap Pap. The openings for the nasal pillow cones have to be enlarged to fit the Tap Pap cones.

When you get yours...if the holes are pinching the cones..just enlarge the opening just a little on the cozy. Some people found that the pinching prevented the cones from sitting in proper position in the nostrils. Karen does that...better to have them a bit small needing enlarging than too big too start with. We can always make the holes bigger but can't make them smaller.

Ok, so got the cozy last night. And tried it out and what do you know I kept the mask on all night. Sweet. I woke up during the night more than normal, but who knows why. The cozy did seem to make the mask more comfy, and I didn't drown in the middle of the night even though my bedroom hit 50 degrees. I sleep with the window open until it hits 32, then just a crack, lol. My wife hates that.

Glad you did well last night.
The success rate of the barrel cozy from Padacheek is very high. While not for everyone...the failures are very minimal in numbers.
Like I said...best money I have ever spent on any add on to equipment feature and I have tried a bunch of stuff.
Originally bought for condensation at the nasal pillow level prevention...and it works...but kept using it during the times where condensation chances were minimal (like summer) simply because it felt good against the skin.

A bit annoying if a person likes to wash their nasal pillows daily I suppose but I was long past daily washings by the time I got mine.
So I just washed both once a week...so not much extra work involved at all.

I would agree daily washing would be a pain, but I am getting over that as well, more like once a week.
