Thanks to the members here I was able to enter the efficacy data mode on a Resmed VPap III. I found under leak rate - 6L per min. Is this good, bad, or what. I have a inhalation rate of 19 and exhale 16.

On page 3, in the section "CPAP data" of this study using resmed machines:
"a 95th centile leak of 0.4 l/s was considered acceptable"

Dang! Rested gal, you're just an endless source of information. How do you find all this stuff? Talk about a paper one can become tangled in!!!!!

No doubt about it RG is tops when it comes to locating helpful data no matter the source.
My own experience witht he VPAP III is that I have a UMFF mask & that is set in the menu thus I expect to see 0 leak rates - anything over 0 means the mask is set up incorrectly (wrong menu choice) or there is a leak in the fitting or a leak in the humidifier or the mask vent plug is not pushed home (can get dislodged when cleaning the UMFF mask).
Here are a set of historical charts from some VPAP IIIs I have used - you will see in the early entries that the leak in some is highish but as I got the setup under control the leaks start to show consistent 0.
These charts were produced during various experiments (VPAP III S & VPAP III S/T) - my regular machine is a PB330 Bilevel but it doesn't record nightly data but the VPAP IIIs do a great job of providing AHI HI AI & Minute Ventilation + breathing rate & real leak data (My PB330 is quieter than the VPAPs so it gets the regular use).
The PO data shown in the later charts came from a seperate Ohmeda Pulse Oximeter.
