It's my birthday and I'll breathe cause I want to....long story short, I'm sick and tired of feeling bad, nights of unbroken sleep, and just being darned tired.
It's been a summer of testing (at home sleep study, in clinic titration), diagnosis (mixed apnea) and treatment (bi-level 10/5 cm H20).
Thank you to everyone for all the great information what is within my rights. My first call from the DME was I would be getting "top of the line bi-level Philips machine."
It should have been my first clue--telling me instead of asking what I want/need. I pushed back and stated I wanted the AirCurve 10 Vauto.
When I get to my fitting/setup appointment, I see that it's an Aircurve 10 S--and I insisted that is NOT what I asked for or want.
The RT was a jerk and said "Well, that's the script your doctor wrote." I pushed back and said "No, it's not." (I had my script in hand).
He then had the audacity to follow with "Well, this is what I have, now."
I asked "Well, when will you get what I asked for?"
Grumble, grumble, grumble, RT gets up, checks prescription and then comes back and tells me there is another delay since the machine has to be special ordered and transferred from their location across town. I mention that I live between the two stores and will be more than happy to pick it up myself. He responds that the store is closed.
Why tell me all of this and truthfully, not my problem.
Thursday, I did receive my Vauto. Goodness, you'd think I was being a drama queen for all the "trouble" I caused--this is a special order machine and the mask is a special order--you are the only one that uses this. For the love of Mike, I don't care. He proceeds to tell me the prescription is set and can't be changed (ha), I can only see 1 day of data (ha-ha), and if I want to get additional data, I'll have to contact them (uh no). I will have to work with them for a heated hose--as I live in Colorado and sleep with the thermostat set to 55 degrees in the winter. Can my doc prescribe and then I bypass that office altogether? I have Rotech as my DME provider and am willing to set up for online ordering--after I get my doc to write the prescription.
At any rate, initially, I left the settings as prescribed for the first night. I felt better the next day, but still yawning and sleepy. Last night, I changed the settings to auto.
The result was better and frankly, I feel better. It was a shot in the dark guess based on my prescription (10/5). At this point, I'm at a stop on the next steps (if any).
Feedback would be greatly appreciated! And thank you for listening to me gripe. I am soooo happy this is my second night of unbroken sleep in a very, very long time.
This is my first post; please let me know if the image setup/format/anything is done incorrectly so I can fix the issue.
