Night Guard

Post by onthefreeway » Sat Sep 02, 2017 10:30 am

So I finally got a night guard, per my dentist's suggestion. I don't have TMJ and only occasionally have some tooth or gum sensitivity in the morning, but I know there are times when I must grind my teeth. I tried to use the guard last night but it just felt so weird that I took it out. Now I'm thinking that, with my Swift FX nasal pillows (which I love), I'll start to open my mouth at night because this night guard feels so bulky and strange. Any night guard users out there who started with it after CPAP? I imagine it would have been easier to start it prior to beginning CPAP therapy. Ugh, I hope I didn't just waste a boat load of money....

My CPAP therapy is going well, I average about .5 AHI per night, with 6 - 10.2 pressure and I would sure hate to wreck that!

Hi, I have used a night guard for about a year, and started cpap about a month ago. So I'm not the responder you were hoping for. But I'll just say that just like anything else, I think you'll adjust to the night guard soon and it won't be a big deal. Mine felt weird at first, but after a few days I stopped noticing it at all.

I use a nightguard, but started with it before CPAP. It took me a few nights to get used to it, but it does not interfere at all. You will be fine with it.

I have been using PAP for ~7 years. I have been using a mouth guard about as long. I don't remember which came first. Since I use a chin strap, I am very happy to have a mouth guard.
