I'm always surprised when people don't 'get it'. I shouldn't be, but I am.

To me, the clues are all there. I used a Scottish expression. I said "bring" rather than "take". I quoted a telephone number for dialing from within the UK. I implied a serious familiarity with the workings of the NHS.

Now what does all that tell you, DH? What should you have figured out?

That I live here, in the UK.

And that on matters relating to the UK, I do know better than you.

I no longer work as a journalist, I'm retired now. But I still work hard at being a reliable source of information.

And in my opinion, you aren't one.

and, don't you think, (well, we know you don't), that someone who refers to Scotland as "home country" would know these things?
I don't know when this person left the U.K., how old she was at the time, and how much visiting she's done in the past. Also, when one leaves the U.K. and moves to the Canada, one generally buys all new appliances and might not really be aware.

Additionally, a power strip that you would buy in Canada with more than three sockets (power points) would be a surge suppressor. I never saw any that weren't; at least no in the last thirty years.

Dough Head, Rick actually LIVES in the U.K. boy have you blown it. Also, last time I was HOME , I did exactly what Rick suggests to power my machine.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

you're full of ASSumptions, and empty of any information.

why are you so desperate to spread your extremely limited 'knowledge'?

yawningjoe56, do you remember how bad you felt before you got your cpap? That is how you will feel on your trip if you don't take your cpap with you.

It will probably feel and seem even worse now that you are used to getting therapy every night. We get used to being on cpap and supress the memory of how bad it used to be.

It may seem like a hassle to have to bring all that stuff with you, but when you need it, you need it. It's not just a matter of comfort. Don't you want to feel the best that you can and have the energy to so the things you want to do while on your trip?

Also, remember that your cpap stuff is medical equipment and exempt from the airline's rules about number of carry-on bags allowed. And always carry on your cpap as huge numbers of bags get lost and delayed all the time.

I'm going on a visit to Tasmania at the end of the year which will last about 30 days. The longest I stay anywhere is four nights and I have many one-nighters. I would not dream of not taking my machine as I know how bad I feel when i don't use it. This is a driving trip so APAP is even more important if I want to be a safe driver. Having a vehicle is a plus as I have ready made storage for my machine but even if I didn't have a car I would still take it. I would not relish the thought of trying to make up all that lost therapy.

As was said earlier, try a couple of nights at home without it and then evaluate the options.
