Driving myself mad...
Driving myself mad...
So I'm struggling with parasomnia I'm taking my mask off though the night and only getting 4-5 hours each night. My AHI for my central sleep apnea was 65 so I don't want to sleep a second without it. Not to mention I don't feel like I can function when I only get 4 or 5 hours on it. The doctors are giving me a run around anyone have any suggestions or deal with this. I am literly taking the mask off in my dead sleep.

tape it to your face, so it's uncomfortable trying to take it off in your sleep.Bcatz3 wrote:So I'm struggling with parasomnia I'm taking my mask off though the night and only getting 4-5 hours each night. actually not kidding.
also, check what you're saying, the autoset you have listed doesn't treat central sleep apnea at all.

The one that I have does treat centrals. I have tried doing everything you could imagine. I even tried putting a clip over the straps so it would pull my hair. I took that rivht off in my sleep and didn't even wake me up.

what machine do you actually have then?Bcatz3 wrote:The one that I have does treat centrals. I have tried doing everything you could imagine. I even tried putting a clip over the straps so it would pull my hair. I took that rivht off in my sleep and didn't even wake me up.

Did you ever get clarity on your diagnosis? On December 22, you wrote:Bcatz3 wrote:The one that I have does treat centrals.
Bcatz3 wrote:So I was recently diagnosed with severe obstuxtive sleep apnea. However it seems I may have been misdiagnosed my sleep technician as well as the sleep specialist seems to think so. They think I have central because I had 171 central episodes and only 9 obstructive episodes. The question that I have is has anyone else been diagnosed with the onstructive while having a higher number of centrals. They have me using a CPAP with a pressure of 12 however I keep taking it off though the night. Is there any chance it may be because I need a bipap? They told me at the pressure 12 it gets rid of my Aeneas... So very new at this and I just want to get this figured out because I have a 2.5 year old that I need to keep up with. I'm only able to use the machine 1-4 hours before taking it off. I have no idea when i take it off either. They told me that I stopped breathing 65 times an hour when I went for my titation.
Re: Driving myself mad...
I'm using the machine that is in my profile. Yes, I did get a clear diagnosis for central sleep apnea. Thank you for asking about it. It feels like a very long journey
Re: Driving myself mad...
the resmed airsense 10 autoset, which is in your profile, does *NOT* treat central apnea, it flags it in the data, and *ignores* central apnea.Bcatz3 wrote:I'm using the machine that is in my profile. Re: Driving myself mad...
Well you do have a full data machine. I'm not sure why they are telling you it is treating centrals because it is not made for that. What has your AHI been running?Bcatz3 wrote:I'm using the machine that is in my profile. Yes, I did get a clear diagnosis for central sleep apnea. Thank you for asking about it. You need to download Sleepyhead if you haven't already. https://sleep.tnet.com/resources/sleepyhead
And here is the copy of the clinical manual for the Airsense 10 https://sleep.tnet.com/home/files/resme ... -guide.pdf

Are you absolutely sure? The sleep center that I'm going to is a joke..
Re: Driving myself mad...
The best thing would be to get the software and see what is happening. And what is your AHI on the machine?

yes, I am 100% sure.Bcatz3 wrote:Are you absolutely sure? The sleep center that I'm going to is a joke..
the only machines that properly, actually treat central apnea are ASV machines, such as the resmed s9 vpap adapt, the resmed aircurve 10 asv, the respironics BiPAP autoSV Advanced.
these machines usually run around 3500$ online, more in local shops. they sense when you don't take a breath on your own, and dramatically increase air pressure for the duration of one breath.
your machine listed is a *constant pressure* though auto adjusting capable machine, it can auto adjust pressure over a period of minutes.... it *cannot* respond breath by breath, it's simply not programmed to do so.
anybody that told you it treats central apnea is either completely mistaken, or lying.
do what Okydoky said to do, get sleepyhead, read the data, and post a picture of a recent night. we'll see what the machine thinks... as I said, the autoset will recognize, and then ignore, centrals.

Re: Driving myself mad...
My ahi on my machine was 3 last night. Where do I even begin to go to fix this? Should I go get a second opinion.
Re: Driving myself mad...
well, if your ahi is consistently 3, then there's nothing to worry about with the effectiveness of your treatment, and we're back to taping the mask straps to your face.Bcatz3 wrote:My ahi on my machine was 3 last night. Where do I even begin to go to fix this? Should I go get a second opinion.

Re: Driving myself mad...
3 is a treated AHI so I wouldn't worry right now. You need to monitor the data and learn about your machine and diagnosis.
Now for your mask issue you have to find a way to prevent this. Put socks on your hands, continue taping, use an ace bandage to wrap around it, etc. and as soon as you find it off put it back on.
