Re: Deep breath/flow rate spike and possible arroussals every night?

Could you provide zoomed-in views of a couple of the places you marked? Maybe around 3 minutes.

Re: Variable dwell time between breaths

Your persistent fatigue raises in my mind the question whether your doctor has explored other possible causes for it. Sometimes there are two problems at work, and fixing one still leaves the other. If you haven't already been tested for other conditions that could cause chronic fatigue, here are so...

Re: New sleep study coming... some questions about moving to bi-level

vandownbytheriver, I'm puzzled by why you want to use a bilevel machine when you are also trying to do without EPR. Both EPR and pressure support provide a differential between inhalation and exhalation pressure. EPR is limited to a differential of 1, 2, or 3; PS can provide a much greater different...

Re: New sleep study coming... some questions about moving to bi-level

Vandownbythe river, I'm still curious about your answers to these three questions:

Do you feel rested during the day? Why is your EPR set at 2 rather than 3? And if you have access to a bilevel machine, do you feel like experimenting with it?

Re: New sleep study coming... some questions about moving to bi-level

Rubicon, is the palatal prolapse mainly on the left-most part of the flow rate that the video shows? Do the "devil horn" shapes at the tops of inhalations further to the right look like flow limitations? To the OP: it's certainly technically feasible to do a one-night titration with emulation of sev...

Re: Need Advice - Exhausted Again

So ResMed Airsense 10 is like a car make; next question is about the model: CPAP, Elite, Autoset, or Autoset for Her. I think all four models have the model name on the front of the machine. Could you let me know which one yours is? You mentioned that your machine is a bi-level machine. Is it by any...

Re: Newly Diagnosed CSA... scared

Because you have mixed apnea, an ASV machine might be what you need. (That's Adaptive Servo Ventilation.) Because ASVs are quite expensive, insurers often require that patients "fail" regular PAP and then bi-level PAP before moving to an ASV. Did your titration study not include emulation of all thr...

Re: I just started apap therapy 3 weeks ago and I feel worse.Should I change the settings?

If you want to make a change -- and stick with it for a week! -- I would suggest a minimum pressure of 9 and EPR of 3. (That will give you a minimum of 6 when you exhale, which is what you have now.) It would be good to see whether the EPR helps with the flow limitations and the snores. No guarantee...

Re: Need Advice - Exhausted Again

One way to try to adapt to your new bilevel machine is to use it outside your bedroom during the day or evening while you watch TV, read, or use your devices. Maybe you could give that a try? Also, could you remind me of the make and model of this new machine that you're trying to get used to? And d...

Re: Waking Up Constantly

As chunkyfrog says, it *does* get better. A few questions: How long have you been using your machine? Could you tell us the make and model of your machine plus the name of your mask? And do you know your pressure settings, plus any settings like EPR or Flex? Try setting up your machine outside your ...

Re: What to do when most/all events are "Clear Airway"?

Many thanks for posting the sleep study. A few things jump out at me: * most of your events were hypopneas, * you had an arousal index of 22.8, * as you note, you had the great majority of your events during supine sleep, which is not your normal sleep position. Of course, data collected during one ...

Re: Need Advice - Exhausted Again

Thanks for clarifying the timeline, Sean. So the sleep study came after you were on the Subutex. Did it show a lot of centrals? I think the answer is no, but I want to be sure. Does the sleep doctor know you're being treated with Subutex? Have you talked with the doctor who prescribed Subutex about ...

Re: What to do when most/all events are "Clear Airway"?

I agree with what Lazarus and DS have written. I'm curious whether you have a copy of your sleep study; if you do, does it say anything about leg movements or RERAs? Your CAs aren't themselves a problem; they're a symptom of a possible problem, which is frequent arousals. Arousals can be full wake-u...
