Re: odd side effect: air inside under lower eyelid
...I am going to see an ophthalomologist. I saw my optometrist, but I don't think he was quite the right person... ENT with knowledge of apnea would be a good choice. Years pre-CPAP my ENT asked how my using the Grossan device was working out and chuckled when I commented I found it somewhat alarmi...

Re: odd side effect: air inside under lower eyelid
Regarding internal passage of air from CPAP through tear duct: Problem is, there is no research on this side effect. I agree with dels, there is no ruling it out. Who said the DME is qualified to judge on this particular health issue? My sleep doc said the same thing, but there is no qualified, res...

Re: Giving CPAP another try but need help
Your doctor will send a prescript to the DME telling them at what pressure to set the machine. If you are new DME stands for Those Crooks that rent the machine to your insurance company or Durable Medical Equipment. My machine is also set on 17 and I use a full face quattro. I also used to be a pow...

Thank you all for all the info! I use zomig too and it is wonderful! I am also buying the large sam size bottles of ibuprophin and excedrine migraine I talked to my doctor about this after I went to the sleep study. Re: Ready to cancel
Why don't you post your settings? The reason we ask is because on occasion someone will have been prescribed a setting possibly a little higher than is strictly necessary, and by lowering it just a couple of degrees, gets rid of their aerophagia. But if you're only on a setting of e.g. 7-8, then th...

Re: Ready to cancel
To reiterate what was previously said......PLEASE list all of your equipment and machine settings. Den Hes/she hasn't got it yet and is making themselves very anxious worrying about problems they might not have. CPAP is a breeze compared to practicing pain control. Me and my 2 herniated cervical di...

Re: Ready to cancel
Yesterday I was feeling really good about getting started on cpap. Now I have discovered aerophagia. No one said anything about aerophagia. I really don't know how this could get much worse. Gas and ky jelly up my nose, I've got my hand on the phone now. One question... what kind of equipment do yo...

Re: Tired of CPAP!!
I realize that I haven't been back here to read/reply like I'd like. No, no one scared me off. Things been really busy here. I don't know what to say really. Maybe it is just a "attitude" thing, as someone put it. Was I looking for help? I don't know, maybe just some understanding that other people...

Re: Titration study and masks
Oh, and one thing you'll find by digging around is that APAPs are billed THE EXACT same as CPAPs to the insurance. The only difference is the profit that the DME makes off the machine. They ALWAYS make profit on the eqp, so don't feel bad about hardlining them. If it's the doc that says they only pr...

Re: Titration study and masks
What is an APAP? That, is an excellent question that any sleep doc should be able/willing to answer. So can/am I. So far the xPAPs fall into three categories: CPAP - Constant Positive Air Pressure - basically just does the wind-tunnel effect blowing air down your throat in hopes of keeping the airw...

Re: Titration study and masks
I have my titration study Aug. 7th so I thought I would call to see what kind of equipment they have to test with. They only have 3 masks. One full face and two nasal pillow somethings. I told them I wanted to try the nasal pillows because I am sort of claustrophobic but when I told them I had a de...
