Re: Benefit of APAP over CPAP
Having an Apap however is better than 'just' a Cpap because Apaps can be set to do Cpap alone, so you have the choice. This is what I figured. It was an extra $80 or so. We'll try the APAP for a week and compare the results to her current setting. Make sure to set the lower end close to her cpap pr...

Re: Cpap and bronchitis
You should be asking your own sleep doc this question offline, not the people on here. This forum is for general advice, not what could be considered emergencies or borderline emergencies. Nobody here could tell you whether or not to continue using your machine under the circumstances you described...

Re: Cpap and bronchitis
I have been think about this believe that the pressure pushes the mucus into your lungs. The xpap provides just enough pressure to keep your throat open so you can breathe. You breathe in with help BUT you then breathe OUT against that pressure, so putting more force behind the exhale (you chest mus...

Re: Brevida mask from Canada
I ordered a Brevida mask from Canada on Jan 5, 2017. Live in So Cal, Riverside area. How long does it take to get here???? If it went regular post office then it could take over 2 weeks. That is what it takes to get stuff here from the states. We have also had major winter storms in parts of Canada...

Re: Cpap and bronchitis
I have a full mask but I can never get it to fit without leaking. I tried it earlier but no success the afrin seemed to work enough to use the nasal pillows. Thanks Use a liner. Make your own out of an old tshirt or a polar fleece scarf. But don't worry about leaks when you are sick. Or your AHI. F...

Turn up your humidifier and use a full face mask. Put some vicks/tiger balm/ eucalyptus on a cotton ball at the air intake. Cpap is the best thing ever for could, flu and pneumonia!

Re: Severe Dry Mouth
Taped mouth the last two nights, no change. I fill the water chamber every night before I retire and there is still some water in it in the morning. Humidifier is not designed to keep mouth wet while mouth breathing. It is designed to keep nasal passages damp. Get a full face mask and a chin strap ...

Re: Ft. Lauderdale - Keep CPAP Machines with You!!
It seems to work well in the rest of the civilized world. Has for over 100 years. Except of course in the USA - because you don't want it to work. It would destroy your cultural myths of wild mountain men and barefoot and pregnant women and meek obedient children. There are very few instances of civ...

Re: Ft. Lauderdale - Keep CPAP Machines with You!!
Let me guess. You want SOMEONE ELSE to look out for you? Assuming responsibility for your own physical safety is a basic part of being a human being. Unfortunately, more and more people are shunning the age old practice of assuming responsibility for themselves. It runs from wanting the government ...

Re: After your initial diagnosis did you get to meet w/a Dr.?
Yes I saw a sleep doctor (totally different system in Quebec) once when he wrote the prescription and once after the titration. When I told him I could deal with the adjustment myself he said "great, come back if you can't handle something. Bon chance" and how great the internet was.

The respiratory tech using the cpap machine probably knows more then the MD re the sleep study.

A hose cover will protect it from the cat and make it feel nicer.
(lost a hose that way - nice warm place to sit on and knead....)

Re: Safe to run cpap near computer?
The only problem may be that the cpap machine is higher then you mattress. It may cause condensation to run down into your mask (rainout as it is known) and it may sound louder.

Re: How to get out of bed after being on cpap all night?
Don't take your mask off until you are sitting up and your feet are touching the cold ground and the light is on.
Stand up immediately and go splash water on your face. Make the bed and get dressed.
