Re: Throat Clearing-Irritation Not CPAP-Related
Prevacid is OTC.
I found most OTC drugs ineffective for excess acid after my cholicystectomy.
I took Aciphex for several years until BCBSNE took it off formulary last summer.
Now I take generic pantoprazole--which works as well but at a much lower cost--even than the OTC.

I believe most insurance companies roughly follow the Medicare guidelines.
(mostly to avoid documenting their replacement schedule, I suspect)
Nasal pillows twice a month, the last time I checked--the only thing I saw mentioned with that frequency.

Cangelos: Listen to your doctor--the sleep study is a MUST! Maybe there is some weird way these things might work on a FEW people; --but I do not see it working for anything other than a big money-maker --at the expense of people who are having trouble adjusting to CPAP. This can be a difficult and ...

Yes, it can most definitely end the apnea--just not the way you want.
RIP.
Getting used to this equipment is sometimes tough; but so is nearly anything that's worth it.
The easy road only leads downward.

Re: boiling stuff
My kids were both bottle babies--(back before breastfeeding was considered 'primitive') Anyhow, I started out boiling their bottles and nipples (they were latex, then) I stopped when I accidentally boiled the pot dry (probably had apnea then) Do people sterilize baby stuff now?--the nipples are sili...

Interesting article--even with the little bit of misinformation.
Good to educate the guys.
The comments were especially revealing--a variety of directions; but no reference to online support (esp. US!)

Re: Watchout for "accredited sleep labs" that are not so
Thank you Avi, for the "heads up". The need to check out a site before submitting to a test is most definitely a good idea--one that might not occur to everyone. As expensive as these tests are, one would expect some basic standards of comfort and cleanliness. When we are expected to sleep, conditio...

Changing any settings on the s9 Autoset or Elite is easy.
You just need the clinician's manual.
I was able to download it in pdf format,.
I believe somebody here has a link.

Evening snack: A cup of low fat (1%) cottage cheese with a dash of vanilla and a packet of stevia sweetener. Not quite cheesecake, but close enough to quiet the cheesecake cravings. (with protein) Breakfast: 2 eggs scrambled with a dash of olive oil and a couple of tablespoons of real bacon crumbles...

Cpap is not as bad as you think, I like sleeping in different positions--my arthritis demands it.
