Re: making adjustments

Hold your breath for 15 seconds. That's essentially what a central apnea of 15 second duration is. The airway is open but no air is moving because there is no effort to breathe. That's a central apnea. We pause our breathing all the time while awake and don't realize it. The machine can and will fla...

Re: ResMed Autoset 11 Settings Optimization

woke up around 5:00 due to bloating and burping while the pressure was around 14. I I am not sure if this means the min inhale pressure of 7 is too much. Cross your fingers that it was the pressure pushing 14 that was feeding the aerophagia monster and not the 7 cm minimum because you need the mini...

Re: Are these Central Apneas and what to do about them?

About all you can try with your current machine is to reduce or eliminate EPR in an effort to reduce the number of centrals and that will ONLY work if EPR is the cause of your centrals and ONLY if you were for sure asleep and not awake when they got flagged. Some people have centrals pop up due to u...

Re: Are these Central Apneas and what to do about them?

When did you start using EPR at 3?
Do you have reports with less EPR and less number of "centrals"?

I can't tell with these reports if the centrals are asleep centrals or awake/arousal related centrals. Is it possible you were awake when they were flagged?

Re: Help required to reduce AHI and Aerophagia

You have to load up a SleepHQ report so that it is public and then provide a link to that report. Once we can access the report it is interactive for us and we can zoom in on the flow rate/breathing and look to see if the flagged events happened while asleep or awake. I can do the zooming in and eva...

Look to the upper left corner of OSCAR for a "Profile" tab....click on it and you will see the profiles you have available and then you can switch/change profiles to download to.

Re: No humidity mouth taping but still leaking

I'm curious if folks have had success with mouth taping and keeping humidity on (though low) and getting leaks to stop? I fail to understand how humidity causes leaks. I use a max humidity setting of 8 and a nasal mask and I don't have a huge amount of excessive leaks and in fact have had a few 0.0...

Back in the dark ages when I started cpap therapy there wasn't any sort of thing like a heated hose integrated into the cpap machine....all we had available for heating the hose air was the stand alone heated hose. Back in 2009 all we really had available was a stand alone heated hose manufactured i...

Re: No humidity mouth taping but still leaking

Is your tape still secure in the morning?
If it is then maybe the leak is mask movement leak.

Re: Help required to reduce AHI and Aerophagia

I think a stroll through the flow rate graph using SleepHQ is in order. Need to know if those flagged events are asleep events or arousal/awake related flagged events. More pressure is indeed needed to deal with the OAs and hyponeas ....if they are real asleep events...but they may not be real aslee...

Re: Central Apnea Index

With that low of a central index.....you do NOT have central apnea.

Are you sleeping soundly for the most part and feeling decent during the day?

Re: Central Apnea Index

No unless you are seeing a central apnea index of over 5 per hour (and you for sure were asleep when they were flagged) every night you don't have central sleep apnea. Just what is your central index? An occasional central apnea is normal to see. Example....it's normal to have what is called a sleep...

Re: chin strap

You can't really make a chinstrap that will vise grip the mouth closed. Chinstraps are supposed to be "gentle" reminders to keep the mouth shut....they aren't a physical vise grip ratcheting the jaw closed. Try an experiment. Sit there and close your mouth so you teeth (upper and lower) touch. Now j...

Re: Events per hour has increased

Look up the side effects for Methotrexate.....tiredness and drowsiness are on the list. You have this.....Polymyalgia rheumatica??? That also could be affecting sleep quality or maybe causing some discomfort which in turn affects sleep quality. I think that the bulk of your OSA problem is probably a...

PLMD periodic limb movement disorder https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=PLMD How are your iron levels? BTW....I don't know that I would spend much time trying to sleep on my side. From the sleep studies it's not like your OSA is significantly less when on your side. Non supine AHI ...
