Re: first night with cpap a total failure - what now?
Anxiety can cause pins and needles, and I bet that was what was happening. Your body needs some time to get used to the new experience. Please set your machine up outside your bedroom during the day or evening and use it while you read, watch TV, or use your devices. The idea is that you start getti...

Re: Flow Limitation
It's fine to ignore FLs if you want to. On the other hand, if you are not yet sleeping well, and you want to experiment, you could try using more EPR to see whether that made you sleep better. -- Notice I said nothing about the numbers there!

Re: My poor experiences after a gallbladder operation with my Philips Dreamstation
I'd recommend that you get a ResMed Airsense 10 Autoset if possible. It's tried and true. If you can't get one, I'd recommend a ResMed Airsense 11 Autoset.
You might consider buying your new machine outright. Something seems to be problematic about the DS. The filter stuff would worry me.

Re: Flow Limitation
Flow limitations are what they sound like: restrictions of the flow of air somewhere in your airway. The scale from 0 to 10 is really just a way of saying "no restriction" to "a lot of restriction." And the way the machine figures out whether there's a restriction is by analyzing the shape of the fl...

Re: BiPAP: Great Numbers, Super Dizzy
I got a heads-up from Pugsy, who notes that the lowest you can go in the mode I've suggested is 4. The option of 3 is available only in S mode. But I'd still recommend giving the new settings a try.
Eager to hear more about the nature of your "dizziness."

Re: BiPAP: Great Numbers, Super Dizzy
Welcome! While PAP therapy can occasionally affect the middle ear and causes dizziness, that side-effect shows up early and resolves on its own, or that's my understanding. So I suspect you're feeling dizzy for some other reason. How exactly do you feel? Light-headed? Disoriented? Unsteady on your f...

Re: Does actual benefit matter in Medicare CPAP compliance?
It does look as though Medicare requires the *doctor* to say that PAP therapy is beneficial. That opinion could be based primarily on data like your AHI. Has your AHI improved? I'd recommend changing your settings on your own -- IF you use Sleep HQ or Oscar to general data from your machine and IF y...

Re: 3 months in - still high clear airway - suggestions?
Oh, yes, getting a test at a lower altitude would not tell you much. Fingers crossed your body somehow works this out on its own, or with your sleep doctor's help. Keep us posted, would you?

Re: 3 months in - still high clear airway - suggestions?
Many thanks for that link, ChicagoGranny. I'm especially struck by this: The higher frequency of central apnea at altitudes above 6000 ft. indicates that such altitudes may be a relative contraindication for the routine use of limited channel OSA screeners and automatic technologies that are unable ...

Re: 3 months in - still high clear airway - suggestions?
Your report says all your events were unclassified apneas, so that isn’t helpful at all. I think you need to ask your sleep doctor for an in-lab sleep test so you can really figure out what is going on. I’d assume your sleep doctor has a lot of experience with high-altitude sleep stuff too. Please l...

Re: 3 months in - still high clear airway - suggestions?
Welcome! Could you let us know the breakdown of your AHI when you had your sleep test? You could scan and post the sleep report, with your identifying information blanked out. Do you live at a high altitude? Do you take medications or drugs that are opioids or like opioids? (When you post your next ...

It would be helpful if you could post a chart using the Oscar software or the SleepHQ platform.
