ASV How can I solve this problem?

One and half years into ASV treatment for complex apnea. AHI usually around 1-2 most nights with occasional wild swings. My problem centers around occasional nights that for whatever reason I wake up around 3-4am and the machine is breathing hard for me. But once I am clearly awake, the darn machine...

Re: Since starting Cpap I've noticed a change in bowel habits.

My gastroenterologist tells me that it is quite common to experience constipation with cpap. I certainly did. He says it is due to the reduction in adrenalin discharge during the night which was causing more bowl motility. The apneas were causing stress and thus the adrenalin discharge. When that is...

For folks on the board board who are interested in the exploding area of research on the microbiome, may I suggest Dr. David Perlmutter's newest book "Brain Maker" It is a great start for understanding the revolution that is happening in medicine around this topic.

Re: Wild stats with new Oracle oral mask

I agree with JDS74. I found that a soft cervical collar definitely improved my numbers especially when on my back. I also turn it upside down so that the chin notch faces down to give further support to my chin which will sag when I relax. PM of you want a link to my device on Amazon .

Re: OT - Statins and You

Prescribing statins to anyone with a total cholesterol of over 200 and/or an LDL of over 100 has become the "standard of care". Doctors fear getting sued if they don't prescribe statin drugs and a patient later has a cardiovascular event. Doctors prescribe statins even if HDL is high, triglycerides...

Re: ASV causes massively swollen Uvula

No antibiotics or allergens that I can detect. I do have a history of GERD but have no symptoms since been on daily prilosec. Very odd and quite uncomfortable not because of pain but because of floppy swollen uvula. Was all resolved by that evening. Will need yo get back to papin' now that the cough...

ASV causes massively swollen Uvula

Ok this is really strange. I have been successfully using ASV and the Oracle mask for 8 months but recently caught this awful virus/bronchitis that lasts for thee weeks that everyone seems to be getting this season. Because of non stop coughing I have not been able to use my ASV for two weeks (now s...

Re: MASK/HOSE LIFE

Oracle mask at 7.5 months with no signs of wear except I change the fiber diffuser filter monthly. Heated hose working great and have never cleaned it, but use the HOZER hanging hose manager. No odor, wetness, or any signs that it needs cleaning. I wash everything else every morning with a dot of di...

Interesting. I took the suggestion to try a different browser on my Windows phone 8.1 and the same behavior showed up. Oddx2!

PR ASV auto "OFF" feature?

Does the PR System One REMStar 60 Series BiPAP autoSV Advanced have an auto "OFF" feature. I cannot find one anywhere but thought I would make a last check on this here in case I have overlooked something. I use the auto "ON" feature since I have fallen asleep with mask on a few times before I have ...

board display fonts irregularity on smart phone

I notice curious behavior when reading the board on my smart phone (Windows phone 8.1). Sometimes the font especially of the original poster is in teeny tiny font and difficult to read and then the answers are back into a nice chunky big font that is easy to read. When checking the same post on my l...
