Re: Using D cells for that once-in-10-year emergency event

Wilbur Says: Put me out of my Misery, I've been beaten more than needed, put the "D" Batteries in your Cattle Prod, and send me to that Great Barn in the Sky. Instructions for Making a Silk Purse out of a Sows Ear can be found on U Tube. I think about 300 "D" Cells wired in series will be enou...

Re: Using D cells for that once-in-10-year emergency event

I'm for the U.S.A. Plan when I watch others that do electric projects without the understanding of how things work. It comes down to, The Red, White, & Blue Results! Red, is for the flames when you plug it in, if you are lucky, you see the White the color of the smoke coming from inside the case, ev...

When electronics meet water...you usually know it...   this reminds of my stint as an admin at sony service center. at one time, sony was running ads showing happy young people cavorting on the beach capturing their precious memories on video tape. this drove our manager nuts. Re: mandated doctor appointments for supplies?

I had my Dr. bugging me to make a yearly appt, I am no longer able to visit his office. I use Lincare as my supplier, they still supply my O2 Pump and XPAP supplies, I haven't tested them on a new machine, mine are still going after 17 years, and I have two backups, I'm not going to rock the boat. I...

Re: Using D cells for that once-in-10-year emergency event

I see. So to get the charge you want, you have to adjust the current appropriately. How about a switching supply, that allows for 10s at 5A then then nothing for 23s? It'd be a honking big capacitor bank though, even if they are electrolytic. Oh well, I guess I know now why no one came up w/that id...

Re: Using D cells for that once-in-10-year emergency event

This is really starting to fall into the category of, if you need to ask how to do something, you probably should not be doing it . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzWJ1ZNSU80 so, unless someone is born with knowledge, they can't learn anything? Nope, not suggesting that at all. One has to be reali...

Re: Using D cells for that once-in-10-year emergency event

Using (D) cells to power a XPAP makes no sense whatever, the power required is too high to run A XPAP for any worth while time. There are many worthwhile solutions to your XPAP power back-up needs listed on this forum, the difference is they do the job. Jim When designing a wheel, start with a Circl...

Re: Favorite tricks to reduce apnea WITHOUT CPAP/BIPAP etc

Having and Treating Sleep Apnea, is a little like playing Russian Roulette, using the Gold Standard of positive airway pressure to keep the Apnea from happening in the first place, is the Goal. Anything less is counter productive. Not using these methods does NOT give you the best chance to stop Apn...

Re: Can you measure the actual fraction of inspired oxygen delivered when connecting O2 to your CPAP/Bi-level?

If the O2 compressor is in the same room you are using it guess where the O2 is coming from. the room by you are using it from. that changes the result as does the vent rate. mine runs in a room with no people or pets in it. And I run 3 lpm instead of the 2 lpm the doctor ordered because I realize i...

If it's truely a "Tank", the power supply should be built into the CPAP, it used a 110 V cord... Jim

How many machine hours on it? Mine is 17 years old and has 16,000 hours on it's clock. Fine machines!

Re: Resmed airsense 11 odor?

Ah Yes, that new car smell, it will leave in time but likely your brain will adapt to the smell, that's how it works. Back in the 1970's we used a product from Prestone called New Car Smell, we used it to make used cars smell new, it was great. Hard telling how much Cancer it caused but after a few ...

Many electric things do that nowdays, in our new political correct world, off is no longer off. More money for the power companies, more free carbon to breath. Jim

Re: FDA Update: Certain Philips Respironics Ventilators, BiPAP, and CPAP Machines Recalled Due to Potential Health Risks

Maybe the FDA changed a word in their original paper, or they needed to write something to confirm the need for their paycheck. Or maybe it's for people that are late to the Party. Jim
