Re: Battery power packs for camping
Adant33 reported: "After another night of testing, the Intocircuit still shuts off every 2-4 hours during usage with my CPAP. I'm not sure why, and it is rather difficult to determine as I'm asleep when it happens. When running it all day without myself connected, it appears to run fine - not sure w...

Re: Battery power packs for camping
Get a cheapo voltage tester /meter. My suspicion is your low voltage shut-off switch is shutting down to protect the battery. Before you hit the reset, test battery voltage. What may point toward a defect is if your battery was really at the low voltage cut-off, once you restart it most likely would...

Re: Not feeling supported by my friends and family
Change "friends!" I agree with the proposition that the fewer people who know your inner workings and issues, the better! Remember, "they are listening," whoever you think "they" are. But I also agree with those who share their OSA and XPAP experiences with close and true friends and family. I think...

Re: Sizing for the Simplus Mask
I was a large in Quattro and am now a large in Simplus. Only my nose feels much better now and it doesn't leak as much on my side.

Re: Question for Snorers and Their Partners
In March 2013 I had to make the sleeping apart call. My beloved would wake me up snoring, puffing, gasping and apnic. She berated me for waking her up with same, plus my PTS nightmares. Neither of us were getting any quality sleep. Then I was diagnosed with OSA Summer of 2013 & started APAP/CPAP in ...

If you can't bring the study home, bring as much of home to the study
I think you should try to duplicate as much of your normal pre-sleep routine as possible ... within reason.

Great to see you are trying different masks. I found having the ramp drop below 10 would wake me up feeling like suffication. Now I rarely use ramp to stop leaks and my top end is 14, based on my doc's observation that my AHI actually went up over 14 cmH2O.
Keep up the process!

Re: Humidifier Water - Do You Dump Remaining Each Morning?
I strike a balance: most mornings very little water left so I top it off before bed. About every two weeks I wash out the tank and lid with dish siap and warm tap water. I only use dustilled water since our tap water us highly mineralized. My reverse osmosis unit leaves some minerals, toi, for flavo...

Re: CPAP standing or falling by state of nose *ADVICE NEEDED!!!*
Thankfully, I don't have difficulties getting to or staying asleep. But I came across a phone app that might help you: "CBT-i Coach is a mobile phone application for Veterans, Service Members, and others who are participating in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia. It is intended to augment fa...

Re: Battery power packs for camping
Kevin: Did you determine your CPAP machines' appetite for electricity? You will find a label listing volts and amps, or maybe already doing the math and showing watts. Whatever battery you select you will need to supply enough voltage over the period of operations. As the voltage sags the amperage i...

Re: Thinking of increasing pressure, what are the issues.
For me, less than 10 cm H2O would make me feel like suffocating and over 14 cm H2O kept blowing leaks in the mask, waking me up really grumpy. The sleep doc also saw that my AHI's and other bad stuff actually increased with higher pressure and backed the top down to 14.

Re: New and Excited -- Seeking Pre-purchase Advice?
DISCLAIMER: I haven't felt a need to know anything more than the little I know about my XPAP machine ... A word of caution I have seen elsewhere on this group: be careful not to go overboard fiddling with your behind-the-curtain controls (aka clinical menus). Seems to me you may want to make very li...

Re: Battery power packs for camping
I used my 18 or 19 amp hour 10 year old Sears power cell (and air pump, light and 110V inverter) to run my APAP/BIPAP on 12 volt. I got to about 2:00 AM from around 10:00 PM, so guess 4 hours. But, I don't have a hose adapter to run without the humidifier, so I was running the whole thing, as I reca...

Re: Simplus impressions and possible issues
I went to F&P SIMPLUS after four others in 6 months. The Tech set up the head strap much loser than my previous masks. Actually less than my typical baseball style cap tightness. Then the two side or cheek straps are also loser than my Quattro was. But the design of the mask keeps good seal without ...

Glad you are off to good start! My initial response to my wife's untreated OSA was foam ear plugs for several years. Her response to my OSA was to wake me up when I snored too loud or stopped breathing. I got the flu in early 2013 and coughed away in the living room. Even when sick and pre-OSA diagn...
