Re: A newbie message.
For me, it was having the DME (Sleep Data) and the sleep doc (Dept. of Veterans Affairs ... love that name review the data from my chip. They brought down my upper pressure so the leaks and AHI went down, and raised the minimum up so I stopped waking feeling like I was suffocating. Also, Fischer Pay...

Re: Anyone ever wake up in the night incredibly frustrated?
Also, make sure your upper pressure is not too high, pushing air out of the mask. I had more wake-up leaks and higher AHI and Periodic breathing until it was slightly lowered.

Re: Fisher & Paykel Eson vs. Philips Wisp
I like Fisher & Paykel Simplus: easy cleaning without inner support and outer flexible mask, very light, very good seal without excessively tight straps for headgear, and able to sleep on both sides and back. This is the 5th mask I tried. Nose hoses didn't work for me due to mouth breathing. As you ...

DON'T GIVE UP!! YOUR BRAIN IS WORTH OXYGENATING! Do what you need to do to get your DME vendor and sleep doc turned around to focus on you ... nicely, of course. Here is my journey, posted a while ago: Postby OboeVet on Mon Aug 25, 2014 8:18 pm I started CPAP/APAP almost a year ago. Started on nose ...

Re: Pugsy's Pointers...SleepyHead Tutorial and TX Hints
Pugsy, It has been a long time since I logged into cpaptalk.com. A friend of mine is in his 2nd week of misery and I am recommending he drop in here and gain from everyone's experiences. I am glad to see you are still active! Your posts and replies were most helpful to me as I started out, as were m...

Re: Camping
Do a search of this entire forum for words like "camping," "battery," "battery power," etc. and you will find a bunch of great information here last spring. One of our forum members did a great job of researching and trying various methods of CPAP under field conditions. Also, very good information ...

Re: sweating using cpap
Since it has gotten warmer, I will turn off the humidifier and hose heater at least part of the night. Sadly, on my machine they are one-and-the-same control. I think my nose has remained clearer with a bit of humidity during the winter and spring, but the room in which I sleep is at the end of the ...

Re: New CPAP User Struggling in First Week
Snuggle Monkey: I started CPAP/APAP almost a year ago. Started on nose hose but too much mouth breathing. Went to Medium Quatro thingy, then Large Quatro then Amara gel mask to a Fisher Paykel Simplus Large Full Face in about February or March. No more side-sleep leaks, no more raw infected nose bri...

Re: ResMed Shutting Off and not turn back on when power goes out
You might want to put an "uninterruptible power supply" (UPS) between the house power and your machine. If your power problems are usually short, you would not need too much battery capacity to carry you through the fluctuations and short outages. They are the same things computer users use and are ...

Re: Camping Help (no electricity & low funds)
Sounds like you might have already searched this forum for "battery" "camping" and such already. If not, there were a couple of threads earlier this year about different power cells and batteries. I already have AGM and a big deep cycle lead-acid battery for my amateur radio equipment, so didn't pay...

Re: the best cpap machine on the market
I agree with previous posts: the "best" for you is the one you use every night, brings your apnea into control, allows your brain to be oxygenated all night and helps you wake up refreshed and ready for a new day. I also have the opinion that sometimes the machines get a bad rap because the settings...

Re: Sleep Doc Wants Me to Bring Machine?
My machine is on loan from us taxpayers and VA wants to see it every year to make sure I haven't sold it, I guess. Could still be subletting it for cash, I suppose, but would need card to show satisfactory use compliance.

OT: Psyillium Husk for Cholesterol
Mine responded well with multi-prong approach: psyllium after breakfast, 1 tsp cinnamon in oatmeal, at least 20 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise at least 3 times per week, lots of water. EDIT: forgot I also take 4,000 mg Red Yeast Rice every night, too. My doc says cholesterol produced at night ...

"FYI" my VA Counselor reported growing research into correlation between Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) and OSA. This is among younger, more fit and normal weight returnees, not just us old "Veet Nam" guys. One hypothesis is brain under fire does what it must to keep you out of deep sleep, including in...

Re: ASV: Is PR System 1 More Comfortable Than Older Model?
I would wake with sensation of suffocating until minimum raised to 10 cmH2O. Was actually getting more centrals & higher AHI's above 14 cmH2O, dropped max down to 14. AHI scores bounce around 0.9 to a very rare 2.9.
