Re: Student, no budget, newly diagnosed, need CPAP, call for generous soul
Hello! I am a canadial student in University. I come to this board as I think I might find people who understand me here and who can help me. I have no money to afford a CPAP and the government does not cover it (although we have a free health care system, seems like not everything is covered). My ...

Re: How can chin straps possibly work?
As the pressure for effective tmt rises, the likelihood of air forcing its way out of the mouth of a nose mask wearer rises...regardless of whatever is placed under one's chin. The lips lose tone, and we all know what follows as we drift off. Hurricane, dry mouth, noise, swatting spouse...yeah, all ...

Re: TOO MUCH PRESSURE CAN'T SLEEP, TOO LOW, HIGH AHI?
Most of us disable the ramp altogether within a very short time after starting out... Really? I hadn't realized that I am in a minority. ...as she said unless your min. setting is quite high (e.g. over 10-15) you're only delaying useful therapy by 45 mins as things are now. Pointless. I suppose thi...

Re: dream machine issues
If all fittings are properly assembled, the only blowing air should be from the exhaust port near the mask. You must breath exhaust air out of your lungs, and that air must go someplace. It follows the air that the machine blows constantly which must exit from the vent near your mask. That is normal...

Re: Water in hose
As the moisture-laden air enters the hose, it will adjust its temperature to the heat setting in the hose. That part of the air that encounters the walls will be most affected. If the hose is cool, the air will cool, and its ability to retain moisture gets compromised the more it cools. The warmer t...

Re: Titration study - what’s involved?
Initial study is to see how well you sleep...or poorly. If it's poorly, and apnea is indicated, you get referred to a trial of PAP of some appropriate kind during which you should be monitored remotely and adjustments are made to your treatment to get the best/optimal outcomes. This might be several...

Re: Travel Insurance Compliance
Remember that the medical insurance, the out-of-country-holy-cow-I need-some-serious-help insurance, will not insure you if you have not been diagnosed and stably treated for as much as 6 months prior to leaving the country and placing them in the position of having to refuse your claims. This may b...

Re: Resmed S9 turns itself off
Power supplies fail over time. Maybe a new power supply & cord will make a difference. Would it be possible to borrow those things and try a couple of nights?

Re: Had two bad nights back to back... any thoughts?
Your highest numbers are limitations/snoring...which might be related. And....could be positional. Or, just seasonal due to allergies, as suggested by an earlier responder. Or, both working in concert to make a truly crappy night. Beyond that, I'll just watch the experts help you out.

Re: Waking up every hour and a half.
I just got off a cruise relocating the ship from the east coast through the Canal and on up to Vancouver, Canada. First 10 days were excellent, but then things began to unravel and I found myself awake much more than usual in the wee hours. Since disembarking, I have had several bad nights with up t...

I'm happy for you...you sound excited and maybe more than a little relieved. If this ends up a long-term condition for you, who could complain?

Re: Solution for Mask Leaks & Skin Irritation?
It's encouraging for all of us to find even temporary relief from one thing or another if it gives us one or two nights of decent sleep and AHI results. I would think that any cream safe for the skin and that doesn't absorb quickly would provide a good seal if applied around the rim of a mask of any...

Re: Camping in a Trailer and Boon Docking
If you have a few dollars to donate to a battery seller, you could always double up with a second similar battery and wire them in parallel. This doubles the power, but keeps the voltage the same. You just need a couple of short cables to connect pos to pos and neg to neg. It would take you a week t...

This is my understanding, subject to correction from much more knowledgeable members here: Afib was a result of my OSA or CA...not sure which, perhaps both. This is what my cardiologist concluded once all other tests were conducted for me, with the polysomnography the last of the bunch. MIBI test ga...
