Re: One week on CPAP, would appreciate some input regarding my stats

What do you think, Pugsy? I did notice the reduction in the minimum. I didn't advise that....I thought he would keep the minimum at 10 and then adding EPR probably wouldn't be much (if any) factor in allowing real asleep OAs or hyponeas to pop up. BUT even with the reduction in minimum EPAP the rea...

Re: One week on CPAP, would appreciate some input regarding my stats

Unfortunately you have asked some questions that there really isn't any way to know exactly what the answers are. Could those arousals be from nasal congestion discomfort??? Sure they could but they could also be simply spontaneous arousals from some other cause. Lots of people have trouble with aro...

Re: One week on CPAP, would appreciate some input regarding my stats

Deal with the congestion the best you can. If we can't breathe comfortably we don't sleep so great.
Frequent wake ups can really screw up the sleep stage progression that we need for the restorative powers of sleep to work their magic.

Re: One week on CPAP, would appreciate some input regarding my stats

So.....how did you sleep last night and how do you feel today?
How was the congestion?

About half those flagged events appear to be more SWJ (sleep/wake/junk) arousal/awake related.

I started on nasal pillows medium and a few months ago I switched to large. Ever since my events per hour have gone up.

So....just how much of an increase in events??? and what kind of events are you seeing?
Waking often during the night?
What does your leak rate look like?

Re: One week on CPAP, would appreciate some input regarding my stats

The machine (when in auto adjusting pressure mode) will try to kill the FLs with more pressure because FLs are one of the things it responds to in an effort to prevent collapses of the airway. The machine will also increase the pressure in response to snores as well as OAs and hyponeas. Fls and snor...

Re: One week on CPAP, would appreciate some input regarding my stats

Well you may not remember waking during the night but your flow rate (breathing) says you had a lot of arousals during the night. The bulk of your flagged events (especially the centrals/CAs) have evidence of big gulps of air preceding the flagged event which means you weren't sound asleep. We don't...

Re: One week on CPAP, would appreciate some input regarding my stats

Do you remember waking several times during the night?

Are you having any nasal congestion at night?

Do you take any medications of any kind? If so, what?

Re: Help with my SleepHQ data

So how is your overall sleep quality? Sleeping soundly for the most part or waking often during the night? Do you take any medications of any kind? If so, what? The bulk of those centrals are awake/arousal related so they are a symptom of poor sleep rather than the cause of the poor sleep. You have ...

Re: making adjustments

Side note and a heads up. That steroid injection can also mess with your sleep (if/when you finally get to sleep) in some way or other for days and days. I have had several of those injections over the years and it sure seemed like when I had a little side effect it seemed to hang around plus my alr...

Re: making adjustments

OK, so for real, how much leakage is typical and nothing to be concerned about? 1.....ANY leak (no matter how big or how small or how prolonged) is unwanted IF IT DISTURBS SOMEONE's sleep. Now for myself...I seem to sleep through most leaks (big and small) so I don't really worry about leaks until ...

Re: making adjustments

Are the leaks interfering with my therapy? My machine always says, "Your mask fit was great last night." So maybe it thinks a few leaks are normal? ResMed machines will show Mr Smiley for leak management until time in large leak territory amounts to 30% or more of the night. So yes...the machine th...

Re: Living abroad part-time

Actually these are the Medicare compliance requirements. 1...must have a face to face evaluation sometime between meeting the compliance usage requirement and 90 days after getting the machine. 2...Medicare wants a 30 day consecutive night period, within that first 90 days, where you use the machine...

Re: Are any of these events real?

I don't think that you were sound asleep when any of those 3 zoomed in on flagged events got scored. Awake breathing is very irregular when compared to asleep breathing but the machine only measures air flow/breathing so it can and will flag that irregular breathing as some sort of apnea event. The ...
