Re: Insurance Change During Rental Period

At this point I am thinking about seeing if I can just pay off the contract price under the old contract before my current insurance expires, even if it means I have to pay a couple of months' rental. Honestly, I just want to be done with my DME once and for all. If at all possible I will buy my nex...

Insurance Change During Rental Period

I've just learned that my employer will be changing insurance providers effective Dec.1. At that point, I will be 7 months into my 10 month rent-to-own period on my machine. Does anyone have any experience with changing insurance providers during a rental period? What should I expect? Am I going to ...

Re: Resmed AirSense just released...will Respironics be next

Why would anyone buy the S10 Autoset when it's got less features than the S10 Autoset for Her for the same price?

Re: Resmed AirSense just released...will Respironics be next

From my limited reading, my initial reactions… The Good: They've added the ability to detect CSR and periodic breathing. It has an SD card. They don't seem to have an equivalent model to the Escape Auto. The Bad: Compliance modem is built in. At least patient can put the thing in Airplane mode... Th...

Well at least we can hope the "when will the S10 be out" threads will stop now.

Re: Please help define "Clear Airway apnea"

Central vs. obstructive mostly matters in terms of figuring out how to eliminate the apneas. Um…exactly? so, now you agree, and will drop this 'I wanna call it something other than a central' distraction? No, because how to eliminate the apneas is the entire point of knowing what kind of apneas the...

Re: Please help define "Clear Airway apnea"

In the end, I don't think the difference matters that much. Even if you have a central apnea, but it doesn't show up as a clear airway apnea, it still shows up as an apnea. Centrals aren't necessarily more harmful than obstructives, they're just harder to eliminate. You don't need to worry about th...

Re: Please help define "Clear Airway apnea"

I think the distinction that JDS74 pointed out is an important one: we really have no way of knowing whether clear airway events detected by our machines are truly centrals. This is something I did not fully appreciate when I started out with CPAP -- sometimes for a variety of reasons we might have ...

Results of Pressure Changes

So, just about two weeks ago I had my two-month follow-up. At that time, my doctor and I agreed on a change to my prescription. The goal was to reduce centrals and, as you can see, it has had modest success at that. But it has also decreased obstructive apneas and hypopneas, and has decreased my pea...

Re: Anyone else sensitive to flow loss with humidifier?

While the maximum flow rate is reduced, it is still well above what you could possibly inhale. And the machine definitely does compensate for the volume of air you are actually breathing in. Unless you are having truly massive leaks, I cannot imagine that you are not getting enough air.

The most important graph for judging whether your pressures are set right or not is the pressure graph. Could you post a screenshot of that, please?

Re: Bad Sleep Study Results

I used Sleepy Head to evaluate my latest results. Based on the 13.6 - 20 (my max was 5.2), which resulted in an AHI of 0.48 with 1 CAO and 5 OAs. Based on the Leak graph, it looks like the events occurred due to leaks. It possible that I just had a bad night at my sleep study? It just seems like AH...

Re: Transporting distilled water or ??

You might also want to try it without the humidifier before you travel --just to make sure you are going to be comfortable. I would definitely do the same. I know that just turning down my humidity too far leaves me with a sore throat and sinus pain the next day. Not how I'd want to spend my vacati...
