Re: p10 pillows

I Just replaced my whole Airfit® P10 mask after 10 months of nightly use, all of it with the same pillows. My leak rates had been creeping up slowly over the last couple of months, reaching 5-6L/min. I'm pretty sure the issue was the headgear, which was no longer rebounding with a quick wash like it...

Re: Poll: What type of mask do you use?

The Airfit P10 has very minimalist but pretty effective headgear. Some people don't think it has adequate adjustment, but I've found it's plenty for my needs. It tends to loosen up over time, but can be tightened up somewhat by washing it. It's very comfortable. Be aware that your nose *will* be sor...

Re: Poll: What type of mask do you use?

I found it so strange that I used to sleep breathing thru my mouth and yet it seems to stop with a nasal mask. That was my experience, too. I had breathed through my mouth as long as I could remember; it had lead to painful hyperkeratosis of my tongue and constant dry mouth. So I was sure that I ne...

Re: Anyone using CPAP for non-Apnea or heart issues?

Did your doctor say why he was prescribing Klonopin? That's not a standard treatment for a-fib out, as far as I know. It sounds like he thinks your symptoms are anxiety-related (although a-fib is *not* caused by anxiety). If that's the case, you might benefit from cognitive-behavioral therapy. I wou...

Re: CPAP & Ear Congestion/Eustachian Tube Disfunction

I know the feeling. My ENT assured me that the congestion I'm experiencing was not in itself a threat to my hearing. The only concern is about secondary infections that might develop.

Re: CPAP & Ear Congestion/Eustachian Tube Disfunction

My ENT just shrugged and said "it's all connected" when I mentioned cpap and ear pressure. I don't think he really had an answer (or solution) so basically just gave a 'maybe' shrug. Yeah, that's pretty much what I got from my ENT. My impression was that it's anecdotally connected but that it's not...

Re: CPAP & Ear Congestion/Eustachian Tube Disfunction

So when you increased your pressure, you developed ear congestion? Interesting. It makes sense, since it's all connected.

To be clear, I've been at my current pressure settings since July of last year and only recently developed this problem.

CPAP & Ear Congestion/Eustachian Tube Disfunction

I've been on CPAP therapy for almost a year now, and have recently developed a problem about which I'm curious whether it might be related to my CPAP. Let me start by saying that I am not considering going off my therapy, which has been a huge positive in my life. I'm just trying to figure out what'...

Ah, I should have mentioned that at 25 I did not have OSA. I was tested around that time because I snored like a jet airplane and I had a family history of OSA, but my polysomnogram was negative at that time.

Re: How motivated are you to try other options besides CPAP?

I was diagnosed with OSA less than a week before my highly fit but apneic father died of a stroke in his sleep at the age of 59. That provided me with plenty of motivation to make APAP work for me. I went into this not considering failure an option, and made it work. I know that I was lucky to have ...

Re: Poll: Length of time on xPAP before feeling 90-100% restored

It took me about two months, primarily because I was struggling with leaks with my first two masks. Finally I ditched my DME and ordered an Airfit P10 from our hosts, and I've never looked back. My leaks dropped to virtually zero, and My AHI began to creep down. Now, as I approach one year, I'm aver...

Re: Questions about the longevity of the P10 mask.

I have been using the same P10 mask and pillow since June of last year. I wipe it down occasionally with citrus wipes. I boil the pillows and mask after I have been ill. I periodically wash the headgear to shrink it back down. My leaks have been creeping up lately (from near zero most of that time t...

Re: Insurance Change During Rental Period

Probably a good plan. If you can get your (old) insurance provider to help with a payout of some sort, too, that would be the way I'd go. Yeah, I'll call Anthem tomorrow and try to get them to pay up. It's not as though I wasn't diagnosed on their watch, and I've been 100% complaint over the last f...

I had an AHI of 96 during the first three hours of my split-night study. During that time, my sat O2 averaged 79% with a nadir of 61%.
