I'm done with commenting here anyway, Pugsy. So I reckon everyone will be happier. I honestly don't need the aggro. Peace.

Re: Does a sleep study HAVE to show AHI greater than 5 to warrant cpap use?

I think I'd have to look and see the raw data. You're assuming the machine is accurate, and IMO, with such few events, most oftenly it's not. We don't know whether it was a lab or home sleep study, but it wasn't from a CPAP machine, based on what the original poster said. Sleep studies done in slee...

Re: Does a sleep study HAVE to show AHI greater than 5 to warrant cpap use?

I'm in broad agreement, Pugsy, but it seems likely that a sleep study with an AHI of 2-3 for a relatively young, physically fit man, suggests the reasons for chronic daytime tiredness lie elsewhere. OK, maybe it was a home sleep study which underestimated the AHI somewhat, but I only responded to th...

Re: AHI 3.82 and 2.64

. So I'll continue to help others when I can. You haven't helped anyone. You're just parroting the noise that's been hurting people for years. Why are you so aggressive anyway? See above. Do you think Resmed are wrong then about AHI scores less than 5 being normal? You seem to have ignored that in ...

where I presume everyone is encouraged to share their experiences. We like to think that we're here to help other people get better rest and improve their lives. I think you're looking for some kind of social media instead. I looked to see if there were forum "rules" which discouraged people from s...

Re: AHI 3.82 and 2.64

Just wondering why you are so rude to everyone here? I've noticed a pattern. Well, yes, if saying that you're wrong is "rude" then I'm rude. Perhaps you'll like Pugsy's version better, though it's the same information. I'm not going to bother arguing with you other than to re-affirm that anything l...

Re: AHI 3.82 and 2.64

Well...here's the deal with that magic "5" number that so many of the medical professionals use for diagnosing OSA. It's just a number....a line in the sand that they came up with because there has to be line in the sand somewhere. Does it mean that people who might only have an AHI of 3.0 won't ha...

Re: AHI 3.82 and 2.64

I think it's highly unlikely that with AHI scores as low as those, sleep apnea is making you tired. You're quite wrong. People here *frequently* report feeling better when their AHI is under 2, preferably 1.5 or so compared to the 'considered normal' of 5. Any score less than 5 is considered normal...

Re: AHI 3.82 and 2.64

I think it's highly unlikely that with AHI scores as low as those, sleep apnea is making you tired. Any score less than 5 is considered normal and treatment is usually only recommended for moderate and severe apnea (15-29 and 30+ respectively). To put it in perspective, my sleep study showed a "mode...

Re: CPAP Weight Gain?

If a lot of people report both weight loss and weight gain while on CPAP treatment, then the most logical explanation is that that people with sleep apnea appear to have difficulty maintaining an ideal/healthy weight. I say appear because, even with data, it would still be an association rather than...

Re: P10 Mask - Which pillow size?

I also recently adjusted to a P10 mask. Tried the medium first, which seemed the 'best fit,' but had trouble similar to yours. Then I found info that said one should choose the largest pillow size that works. So, I switched to the large pillow, which I was sure would not work. But I was wrong. The ...

Re: P10 Mask - Which pillow size?

Try the large size the next time you try it and I think you will have much better luck. If you can breathe just through your nose just fine and move enough air for comfort....it will work. The soreness....could have been from the medium being a bit too small or most likely you had the mask tension ...

Re: P10 Mask - Which pillow size?

OK new question - hence the change in the title. I received a new P10 mask yesterday and last night turned into a bit of a disaster for me. I have some nasal congestion pretty much all the time (due to permanent scarring - so nasal decongestion sprays do nothing much), and was therefore fearful that...

Re: False Flags and Mini-Leaks Question

Mini leaks could be causing arousals. Just because a leak isn't massive doesn't mean it isn't affecting overall sleep quality. Once a person has an arousal or awakening then that increases the chance of a false positive flag. Also increases the chance of a transitional or sleep onset apnea getting ...
