Re: Mask type settings -- how are they different?

Yes, I'm perfectly aware that under-the-nose is a "nasal" mask. I guess you didn't read my original post.

Re: Mask type settings -- how are they different?

I think there are actually three or more full-face masks offered that are under the nose. I looked at Resmed's, but it was double the cost, and nothing about it seemed to justify the amount. I have the feeling that Resmed sets its prices based on how much it can get.

Re: Mask type settings -- how are they different?

The DreamWear full face mask is still considered a full face mask even though the nose isn't covered like we traditionally think of the nose being covered with full face masks. The nostrils are still part of the sealed circuit no matter if it sealed with an under the nose cushion or an over the nos...

Mask type settings -- how are they different?

How do I set my Phillips Dreamwear full face mask on the Airsense 10 control panel? For months I have been using the Resmed F20 which is a full face mask covering the nose. According to the branding, the Phillips Dreamwear I've just acquired is also called a "full face" mask, but it doesn't cover th...

Re: Cleaning the HumidX cartridge

You're also assuming that the smell is some secret ingredient that is essential to its functionality. It very well may be. But there is also some potential that it is off-gassing from the plastics or manufacturing process. Well, actually my remark doesn't assume that at all. It only alludes to the ...

Re: Cleaning the HumidX cartridge

I honestly feel that the company needs to be clearer about this thing. When the cartridge is brand new, it has a noxious odour that disappears after the first use. No doubt users inhale whatever is responsible. But if those molecules are no longer needed after Day 1, then what is owing to the cartri...

Re: Cleaning the HumidX cartridge

I've nevertheless gone ahead with a quick rinse. I'm out of the country, by the way, and I have no backup cartridge with me. My theory is that if exhalations are filtered for their humidity, then adding a little excess humidity in a pinch to the inside surface can't be all that bad, and it certainl...

Re: Cleaning the HumidX cartridge

Thanks to you all. This clears it up immeasurably. But I will mention that in spite of your responses, I've nevertheless gone ahead with a quick rinse. I'm out of the country, by the way, and I have no backup cartridge with me. My theory is that if exhalations are filtered for their humidity, then a...

Re: Cleaning the HumidX cartridge

Actually, ResMed say not to rinse the cartridges as water will ruin them. In order to work, the cartridges have to be filled with some type of humidifying gel, similar to what's used in cigar humidors or musical instrument storage. When you exhale, the cartridge absorbs some of the moisture from yo...

Cleaning the HumidX cartridge

I've just begun a three-week stint away from home, and I'm using the AirMini with a HumidX filter that pops into my mask. Of course ResMed says that HumidX cartridges are good for 30 days from the time the package is opened (although I suspect that's largely for marketing). I don't recall anything i...

That link, at least at first glance, seems to be just what I was looking for. With thanks. I did say that there must be a logical answer.

Re: My AHI math doesn't add up. Why?

Of course AHI is per hour. If you'll read my comment you will see that is understood. And that there is no explanation for a fractional event.

My AHI math doesn't add up. Why?

I'm a CPAP newbie -- but a damned happy one considering I'm now sleeping normally for the first time in at least 40 years. (I had a sleep study and the news that I have severe OSA with an AHI of 44.) I've adjusted to my CPAP life with pleasure and now my AHI scores are typically lower than 1. Great,...

Nope, no problem with breathing strictly through my nose. I'm simply not a mouth breather.

Re: Getting really frustrated by noise issues: What does your ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet Sound Like

My brand new AirSense 10, now with fewer than 50 hours on it, makes noise similar to the first recording. But before I pushed the panic button, I took a closer look. It's clear that the sound comes from the tank connections into the machine and relates directly to the passage of air over the water c...
