Re: Are these good numbers for a beginner?

Very much appreciated and I can't thank you enough Pugsy! My biggest concern was that perhaps his AHI wasn't accurate due to the mouth breathing/nasal mask, and I couldn't find any info online to determine if that could be true. I feel much better now and he'll be very happy to keep using that nasal...

Re: Are these good numbers for a beginner?

We could really use help interpreting my father's Oscar results between dreamwear nasal and full face mask. His AHI is good with the nasal, but he's been having more trouble with confusion and memory despite liking his mask/therapy. He very often mouth breathes and I'm wondering if that could result...

Re: Are these good numbers for a beginner?

Here is my father's data for the last 6 nights, all with the pressure changes suggested of min 7/max 10. I do suspect that we are up against mouth leaks/nasal mask as I can hear him switch to mouth breathing some parts of the night. His leak rate percentage seems to be increasing as well, but I have...

Re: Are these good numbers for a beginner?

Data from last night. My father thinks he slept ok last night. He remembers one leak. Not sure how concerned we should be with the leak rate at this point or if anyone sees any other issues to address.

Re: Are these good numbers for a beginner?

Here is the data from last night. I think it looks better. Certainly less events, but the leak percentage is worse. I did attempt to tape the mask to his face but the tape didn't hold very well. He vaguely remembers waking up twice to fix the mask but otherwise felt like he slept well. Let me know y...

Re: Are these good numbers for a beginner?

Will do. He'll be thrilled, but it will be my pleasure to do so.

Re: Are these good numbers for a beginner?

My father's chart from last night below. The only change we made was bringing the EPR back to 1, from the 3 we switched it to the night before. 1:30am Gap Note: I came in to watch him breathe for 10 minutes last night. The mask was just a little louder and I thought he might be mouth breathing ever ...

Re: Are these good numbers for a beginner?

Thanks. We'll try one more night at the same temp to see if the colder air still bothers him. So, at this point we switched the EPR from 3 back to 1 (as originally rx'd). And we're leaving the machine at min 7/max 10, same as last night (originally rx'd at 5/9). We'll see how it goes tonight and rep...

Re: Are these good numbers for a beginner?

Thanks. I'll switch the EPR back to 1, but leave the machine at the min 7 / max 10 that we switched it to last night.

He has the heated hose, and climate control too, I believe. I know the machine has two settings for temp and humidity.

Absolutely: 3 minutes @ 2am: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51416367724_2246553d34_3k.jpg 6 minutes @ 2am: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51416596955_fbc7704597_3k.jpg And if it helps, here is a larger view with some time right before and after as well: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...

Re: Are these good numbers for a beginner?

Ok, we adjusted the machine as advised (min 7, max 10, EPR 3 at Full Time)... we had another large gap last night and his AHI was higher than I've seen before. Last night's data is below. My father's notes: He remembers the mask being off once. some nasal congestion on one side. he thinks he felt ok...

Re: Are these good numbers for a beginner?

Thank you for the additional information. Yes, my father does experience some nasal congestion, even prior to starting cpap. He says it's usually one side that has some congestion, during the day as well sometimes. Prior to bed he sniffs some vicks vaporub but I can only assume some congestion conti...

Re: Are these good numbers for a beginner?

Here is the data from his last three nights of sleep. Three days ago we were still feeling good with the results, but the last two days look pretty shoddy: August 27th: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51412723957_c06d61387b_3k.jpg August 28th: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51413467811_6009...

Re: Are these good numbers for a beginner?

He's not totally sure, to be honest. And unfortunately, the last few nights of data have been poor with the dreamwear nasal cushion mask. We're seeing higher AHI (though I think he's awake during many of the flags), higher leak data, some larger gaps in data, and it doesn't look (to me) like he was ...

Re: Are these good numbers for a beginner?

@Pugsy - that's very encouraging. thanks again. Very sorry to hear about your thumb though, and that surgery sounds rough. Too much typing out helpful advice on the internet, I'd wager. try tearing off a piece of toilet paper with one hand.....it sucks ... time to go hands free? https://i.gife...
