Re: A question to those who have successfully mouthtaped

The cover roll tape works for me but takes a layer off my skin when removing in the morning. Does anyone have suggestions for making removal less painful? Thanks to all.

Re: newbie—can you help with mask choose (Asian female) & air settings

Two comments if I may: 1. Julie was right about reading the wiki. That will educate you about the gassing and enable you to solve the problem. 2. I was not asked for credit card info when I downloaded OSCAR. It is "open source" (not proprietary to any company). Perhaps you have the wrong app? One of...

Re: getting a lot of mask leaks lately...

I am wondering about two other variables: 1. How old is your cushion? They don't last forever. 2. Given that you feel the leak up toward your eyes, could the top straps use some tweaking? As an experiment, what happens if you press ever so slightly where the cushion meets the nose (perhaps preventin...

Use AirCurve 10 ASV as backup machine?

When my wife passed away recently, she left behind a Resmed AirCurve 10 ASV machine. It has 1103 hours on it; since she slept about 10-12 hours per night, that makes it about 92-110 days of use. I have uncomplicated OSA without significant CA events. Question: can I use this as a backup machine? If ...

Re: 15 days with ResMed AutoSense CPAP: Seeking Advice on Mouthbreathing

@ OP - Have you considered mouth taping? When I sleep, my muscles relax and the mouth falls open. HORRIBLE dry mouth. In my case, solved with taping. DO NOT believe some of the horror stories you may read about things like vomiting in your sleep and aspirating the vomit. How often do you vomit in yo...

Re: ResMed 10 ERROR MSG: Motor has exceeded ...

Design life on these machines is 5 years, though some go longer. I am no engineer but wonder if the machines work less efficiently after XX hours due to wear and tear on the parts and/or sensors. Medicare will pay for a new machine after 5 years. Some vendors (like cpap.com) have them in stock for i...

Re: How to add medical professional access to my Resmed data?

@ OP - I am confused. You say he's a great sleep doc but he doesn't know how to use AirView or is too cheap to pay for it. How can that be "great" You have more skin in the game than anyone else including your doc. Nobody cares about you as much as you do. Patients must advocate for themselves nowad...

Re: CPAP machine filter: Necessary or just another revenue stream?

What's the big deal?? Filters are cheap if purchased on Ama***, the site that used to sell books but now has millions of items in its inventory. Presumably you change air filters in your car and your home furnace. This is really no different. And to reiterate, they are cheap if purchased in bulk (li...

Re: airway closes much more often in reclined sleeping position

May I suggest reading the wiki on "positional apnea." It is a bit of work but will educate you.

AFAIK, sleeping on your right side is the preferred position. Not sure why it would matter right vs left.
