Re: Any way to make a heavy climate-control hose less awkward?

I have been using this hose hanger from Amazon and very happy with it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07V6 ... UTF8&psc=1

Clamps to a bed post, can custom adjust height and direction, stable, and good build quality. I also hang my mask on it during daytime.

Re: Testosterone therapy and CPAP

Personal experience with testosterone (T) replacement. Ten years ago, after I started taking T by injections, my snoring became pretty intense, such that while on vacation it was so bad my daughter told my wife that she was tempted to put a pillow over my face during a hotel stay. This prompted me t...

Re: new user suffering from dry mouth

I suffered from dry mouth and would wake up in middle of night and have to take a drink of water from a cup on my nightstand. After I starting using Xylimelts (cheapest on Amazon), problem has been solved. I only use one per night. Apply tablet to outer gum (it kind of just sticks there) before putt...

Re: Sleep Changes with CPAP

The quality of sleep is more important than duration. Many research studies have shown that 6 hours of sleep is adequate and not unhealthy. And total sleep time does decrease as we get older. I only get about 5 1/2 hours of sleep currently with CPAP. It seemed like this was less than I was getting w...

Why some PAP users might need sedatives - "The need for such medicines seems to be related to the PAP side effect of increased awakenings rather than baseline impaired sleep." Compliance in the author's practice went from 79% to 90% after treating the non-compliant ones with trazodone, mirtazapine o...

Re: When 95/90% leak numbers don't tell all the story

Having the visible red line really helps put the leak rate in perspective (it just appeared in v.1.5.0 - not sure if it was an option in previous OSCAR versions). The gray vertical bars for large leak periods make things worse than they appear since you can be only 1 unit above default leak rate red...

Re: I lost 70 lbs. Do I need my machine?

I lost 10 lbs since last fall, and noticed my AHIs dropped from 3-5 to less than 2, and often below 1 starting in January. I even had a night of zero, which never happened in the past. Two weeks ago, my CPAP motor had been making a horrific noise, making it impossible to stay asleep. Stopped using t...

Re: Alternative to Biotene Nasal Spray

In the past two weeks, I've had problems with waking up after a few hours from difficulty breathing through the mask, taking it off, then unable to fall back to sleep, and subsequently feeling miserable next day. Previous to the problem, would fall back to sleep after waking, and getting about six h...

Re: Old CPAPer New Member hello & questions

3. Has anyone used the sleep consulting services at AXG sleep diagnostics? I had Jason (LankyLefty) from AXG analyze my OSCAR data two years ago. He had me change from adjustable to fixed pressure, and recommended to use a Brevida mask. My treatment was pretty good after switching to fixed pressure...

Re: Still Tired after 1 year + Analysis

Your OSCAR results look very similar to mine. The large leaks are mainly due to mouth opening and they coincide with increased flow limitations. As the airflow becomes restricted, the mouth opens involuntarily to bypass the constriction of the area in the throat at tongue level and above. In the pas...

Re: Still Tired after 1 year + Analysis

You may want to try turning Pressure Relief (EPR) on and see what happens. The EPR setting is accessed in the clinical menu, which allows selecting the expiratory pressure to either 1, 2 or 3 units below inspiratory pressure. I decided to turn off pressure relief recently in attempt to lower maximum...

Wide vs. Narrow Pressure Ranges (APAP)

Saw this thread that includes a discussion of pros/cons for default range of 4-20 cm H2O versus narrowing of settings to higher minimum and lower maximum pressures. https://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic/t184286/Switched-from-PR-System1-to-ResMed-AirSense-11-Autoset.html?hilit=maximum+pressure&start=45 ...

Re: Sleep hours

This got me curious so I exported OSCAR data for last 365 days and calculated average/median hours with mask on. Average = 5 h:50 min Median = 6:00 h Max = 8 h:16 min This shows I'm getting more sleep on average than sometimes perceived because (at least for me) there is a tendency to remember more ...

Re: Sleep studies negative but having chronic fatigue

Psychiatric medications affect sleep stages. This a handy chart of what the most widely used drugs do:

Also, opiate drugs reduce N3 duration.
