Re: 5 months later..

Concerning nasal congestion. Just an anecdote from my viewpoint. I started CPAP with a nasal mask (the triangular, cover-the-whole-nose-from-upper-lip-to-the-eyes… I don't know what product number this might have been; it was 20 years ago!). Then I was sent a new headgear that was Nasal Pillows (the...

Re: If money were no problem...

My concern would be if the used machine would come with headgear and whatever "cooties" might come with that. I was always taught to not share a hair comb, I think headgear might fall in the same category reasoning. The other concern would be, will my present headgear hose fit the new/used machine. ...

Re: If money were no problem...

As an additional question... I think if one were to buy a used machine, wouldn't it be best to get a new headgear and whatever mask/nasal pillow/whatever for one's self? Do all machines take the same hose fitting or have the manufacturers decided to go with no common standard, just to make people bu...

If money were no problem...

If money were not a problem or insurance didn't care what device you bought (ha, As if!)

What machine would you go for? CPAP, BIPAP, ???

And what model?

And WHY?

Re: What mask recommendation for those with mustache

I used to have a mustache (I shaved it off when I got tired of filtering my soup!). I still have a semi full beard, I shave my upper lip and just below the lower lip. I have been quite happy with a headgear and Nasal pillows, both with and without the mustache, no problems. I like the hose over the ...

Re: Newbie would like to hear success stories, please.

I have been using CPAP since 1996... 23 years on the same machine and nearly as many on the same headgear (nasal pillows). Even with the small problems I had with the initial headgear (nasal masks) I can attest to it being a wonder in my life. I seriously wonder what my life would have been like if ...

Re: Why all the hate?

but I am scared that I might PASS the test and not get it. Your case may be different, but I would be scared it would take me a week to recover, if ever, from a night without CPAP. I would ask them as soon as they had enough time to meet the criteria for a positive test to hook me up to a CPAP for ...

Re: Why all the hate?

I slogged through a lot of the bureaucrat language of the CMS dot gov document referenced above and I have no idea what they are talking about! My sleep study was done at the Neurologist's office complex by people that worked for him. I went in at abut 9 PM, they put electrodes all over me; temples,...

Re: Why all the hate?

Not all sleep studies done way back then would satisfy Medicare criteria. Do we have any examples among members whose study did not meet the criteria? The criteria are liberal and have become more liberal over time - https://www.cms.gov/medicare-coverage-database/details/nca-decision-memo.aspx?NCAI...

Re: Why all the hate?

I have never understood the vehemence against CPAP. I have known others that have been adamant about "I'll never use CPAP!" I have responded in the past with: I broke my arm, but I'll never have a cast on it. I can't see anything more than 3 ft. away, but I will never wear glasses while I drive. I'm...

Re: OT - What our dreams are trying to tell us

I did write a novel due to my dreams... they were repetitive and very much linked from one to another night after night. It got to the point where I enjoyed some of the dreams and looked forward to them. But it began to bother me that I was having these dreams and that they were spilling over into m...

Re: Just Found Out Breeze Was Discontinued - Need A Similar Mask

I know this thread is old, but I have some news regarding the Puritan Bennett/Covidien "Breeze" CPAP headgear. I also love this particular CPAP headgear and also suffered when the yoke/tongue part broke. This is the part that connects the air plenum to the strap over the head. It is a U shaped piece...
