Re: Rolling blackouts and CPAP use
How can you tell if someone is a Vegan? . Don't worry, in no time at all, they'll tell you. From this article: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/jan/26/vegan-diet-lifestyle-health-animals But in a vegan’s ideal world, slaughter and unnecessary pain would no longer exist – and when you ...

Re: Rolling blackouts and CPAP use
I have something similar to the Powerbox pictured above because we can lose electricity for days in California when the powers that be (pun intended) worry that electrical lines will spark wildfires. My office is on the hospital grid so it doesn't usually lose power and I can charge it up every day...

Re: Rolling blackouts and CPAP use
Some vegans will not drink beer that has been clarified with ising glass. (Dried fish swim bladder.) Or marshmallows, gum drops, or jelly beans--(gelatin.) Grim, to say the least. Nah, not grim, there are vegan versions of most food these days that come without the cruelty of factory farming. Marsh...

Re: Rolling blackouts and CPAP use
This sounds like you have never spent time on a beef ranch. Beef cattle are treated lovingly, fed near-perfect diets, always have clean water and have medical checks twice per day. They are social animals and have a good social life 24x7. They lead better lives than most humans on the planet. Oh, t...

Re: Rolling blackouts and CPAP use
Do you cook and mash potatoes then eat them? The plants are alive until someone tears the roots off and cast the still living plant aside. They even have eyes. Heh, good try, but no nervous system. It's a box on the right-hand side of this bingo card: https://vegansaurus.com/post/254784826/de...

Re: Rolling blackouts and CPAP use
We have Adventist friends who eat vegan/vegetarian. I respect their choices, but they benefit from decades of nutritional research to minimize the hazards of that diet. Please respect the choices of those of us who consume beasts and their milk, and consider it both nutritious and palatable. I will...

Re: Rolling blackouts and CPAP use
Pick up a powerbox and a 12v DC power cable for your CPAP. Thanks for the suggestion! if you're a do-it-yourselfer, you can put together your own system with 12v scooter batteries a lot easier. My father taught himself to repair appliances and did it for a living. I'm afraid I didn't inherit that p...

Re: Rolling blackouts and CPAP use
I've put a circuit alarm in a plug that's on the same circuit as my machine. It works, it's around 12-15 bucks, and the sound is about the same as an alarm clock: Thanks so much, I'll look into these! Of course I haven't experienced rolling blackouts before, so hopefully it was just a perfect storm...

Re: Rolling blackouts and CPAP use
but farmers with calving, lambing and farrowing could lose a lot of babies. We need these guys to do well so we can eat . . . I probably should resist commenting here as most people won't want to hear it. But since this appeared on my thread... I have news to share: you can eat fine without raising...

Re: Rolling blackouts and CPAP use
Put your mask on and don't let the machine come on and just keep your lips closed...you can move some air and depending on the mask ventilation system it might be uncomfortable or it might not be but you will still be able to move some air. I have done this test...I could move enough air to not fee...

Rolling blackouts and CPAP use
Well this is an interesting time in Texas as many of us been experiencing rolling blackouts of unpredictable durations. They've ranged to 2-3 hours on/off to less than one hour. We have to scurry around and do anything we need to when the electricity is on. I haven't been using my cpap all night--ju...

Re: Question for people interested in the Bleep DreamPort no headgear cpap mask
Thanks so much Pugsy for posting the number and the information. After jumping through hoops, I just got word from Nationwide today that everything's approved and I'll get my first shipment of Bleep supplies soon. No more paying out of pocket, just the 20% copay. There was a local DME that I tried t...

Re: Long Day's Journey Therapy Thread
Do you take any medications of any kind? If so, what? Yes, Levothyroxine .88 mcg The pills I use to return to sleep are the generic versions of Xanax and Lunesta, alternating each night so I don't get addicted (my primary seemed to roll her eyes when I told her why I wanted two prescriptions) Do yo...

Re: Long Day's Journey Therapy Thread
I want to thank everyone for their patient advice even when I've seemed somewhat dense or apprehensive. I also appreciate the wealth of information on the Bleep mask that helped with adapting to it. My numbers look pretty good, so I can't complain. (Yet, here I go.). I still wake up around 1 -2 am, ...
