tjs I was planning to call Respironics again after reading about what they told you. Today was the first day I could have called them after the holiday, but the odor is almost completely gone now. So I've decided to leave it alone. One difference between our experiences is that my odor was there fro...

I've been renting a REMstar Auto and my insurance approved the purchase of my own machine. My REMstar Auto with C-Flex was delivered this afternoon. Yeah! It has the same plastic/rubber odor you describe. I called Respironics and asked a customer service representative about it. She said it is norma...

I use the Breeze. I had irritation and sore nostrils the first week or so using it. Now I don't even notice the pillows. It's like when I first got my braces. The inside of my mouth was very sore, but shortly my mouth adjusted to the abrasion. The nasal pillows are less abrading than metal braces, s...

Run the hose over your headboard. That made a HUGE difference in comfort for me.

I have more hypopneas than obstructive apneas. I use the REMstar Auto and a Breeze. I am VERY happy with my treatment. I love the comfort of the Breeze no matter what my sleeping position. I wake up every morning fully rested and ready to go. I was sleeping about 14 to 20 hours per day before treatm...

Think of yourself as being a fish on the end of a slack line while you figure out a way to keep the hose raised over your head. That's EXACTLY how I envisioned myself one morning a few weeks ago. I woke up with a charlie horse. I was holding my foot, but couldn't get any relief. I was rolling aroun...

I mostly sleep on my side, but some nights I seem to spend a lot of time on my back. I've learned how to make the Breeze work well when I'm on my back, and do it without thinking now. Here's the problem as I perceive it: When I roll onto my back, the back of the headgear pushes toward the top of my ...

The REMstar Auto has an auto-on function and an auto-off function. Either of these functions can easily be disabled. I leave mine running when I go to the bathroom because it makes my detail reports easier to read. Otherwise the reports indicate two (or more) separate sleep periods. BTW - I can't co...

There is a duct that drains excess tears into the nose. I know this because when I have a bad cold and blow my nose, I get mucus in my left eye. Talk about EEEW! Ted, you don't have it so bad. I'm glad to know that equalizing seemed to fix it. I've worried that I would have that problem sooner or la...

I had a bad week about a month ago. No obvious reasons, just waking up tired and staying that way all day. My CPAP report didn't show anything unusual, and I couldn't remember any problems with my mask or anything else. Then everything returned to normal and I feel good again. I'll track it if it ha...

After one month of CPAP therapy my PCP took me off my blood pressure medication. I have perfect blood pressure now.

What else is working better since starting therapy? Seemingly most everything. I can't wait until I've been on CPAP for a year and can map all the changes.

Easier Adjusting After Cleaning

It seemed I would finally get my mask straps adjusted just right and it was time to take everything apart and wash the mask again. I follow my DME's recommendation of washing in anti-bacterial dish soap once a week. I finally worked out a solution for the strap adjustments. 1. I got the straps adjus...
