Re: Tuning it in

You spend most of your night with your EPAP higher than 7, so I see no harm in experimenting with a higher minimum. Try 8 and see how it goes. Does it feel OK? Do you have an increase in CAs? A decrease in OAs or Hs? Give it a week, and if it feels OK and doesn't increase your CAs, you could try 8.6...

Re: Phlegm in throat can't sleep

Welcome, and congratulations on starting your PAP treatment!

Do you have phlegm in your throat during the day too? Or just at night with your mask and machine?

You might try increasing and decreasing your humidity settings to see whether a change in one direction or another helps.

Re: Waking Frequently

You may be experiencing transition events -- events that occur with the transition from waking to sleep or sleep to waking. Different neurochemical systems are involved in breathing in those two states, and sometimes the hand-off from the one to the other other involves breathing patterns that are c...

Re: obtaining cpap rx from Kaiser

FWIW, my primary care physician in Kaiser is happy to write a scrip for me to purchase a machine outside the Kaiser system.

Re: Waking Frequently

Re: Therapy Consistency

You note: "Keep in mind that I have only found the right mask and eliminated the mouth breathing in the last 30 days, so the older data must not be of value." Could you include the Overview data for those last 30 days? The data you posted go through Sept 19 only. In general, I'd ignore days on which...

Re: Therapy Consistency

Miss E asked for the Overview page....not the statistics page. Click on "Overview" tab in OSCAR...then go down to the lower left corner and set the date parameters she suggested. What items and their arrangement would be desired? The same as your sticky? Event Flags Flow Rate Pressure Leak Rate Flo...

Re: Reading data from Oscar - Hypopnea's

Thanks for the update. Next visit to the doc you might ask which of these conditions is one that Afrin would help. In other words, do any of these conditions explain why Afrin was so helpful? Best of luck pursuing these new options.

Impressive change with the Afrin, which is a nice clue for further diagnosis. Let us know what happens after the CT scan, would you?

I’m cautious about clicking on links to unknown sites and entering passwords. Can you scan the document and upload it?

Re: Waking Frequently

Pugsy, thanks for explaining how to interpret the large leak data for this machine. I hope I remember if it comes up again! MMcG, I can’t fathom why the tech said not to use flex long term. That’s just bizarre. But if it was uncomfortable for you, skip it. (Though you might want to try it again some...

Re: 15 Sleep Apnea Surgeries, Inspire, still struggling

I'm sorry you're feeling lousy some of the time, and I appreciate that you're trying to find a solution. I don't think I'll take you up on the video of your test results, though. Could you just post a scan of your most recent sleep study?

Re: Waking Frequently

Your AHI is excellent, so my inclination is to focus on comfort so you can sleep deeply for a full night. I recommend using SmartFlex set at 3. I believe this will drop your pressure by 3 cm each time you exhale. Full disclosure: I'm not familiar with your machine and got my information about SmartF...

You might want to talk with a pulmonary doctor.
