Re: Exhausted, hoping for some help
Hypopneas -- episodes of shallow breathing -- can be either obstructive or central in nature, and the best way to treat them depends on what kind they are. I don't see information in your sleep report about the nature of your hypopneas, so I'd strongly recommend that you follow up with your sleep do...

Re: New user introdution
I bet your respirator experience will stand you in good stead. You're right that finding the best mask can take some experimenting. Everyone's face and sleep habits are different, so you'll have to find the mask that's perfect for you. Come back to this thread when you're gear arrives; we'd love to ...

Re: New user introdution
Welcome! I'm glad you're getting a ResMed Airsense 10 Autoset machine; it's an excellent one. Be sure you also get an SD card to put in the machine's card slot. Do you know whether you're going to try a nasal pillow mask, a nasal mask, or a full-face mask? If you breathe through your nose during the...

Re: Struggling to stay asleep
Hypopneas involve shallow breathing with a drop in O2 levels. They can be central, obstructive, or mixed. More here: https://www.sleepfoundation.org/sleep-apnea/hypopnea I really wish they hadn't made you sleep on your back, given that you are a side-sleeper. At any rate, in a day or two, please pos...

You can change your settings yourself, if you like. https://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-pressure/change-cpap-pressure-settings-adjusting-your-machine-with-a-clinician-setup-manual Scroll down until you find your machine. Your in-lab sleep study is somewhat unsatisfying because you had only 100 mi...

Re: Feeling awful even with low AHI
Just so you know: Flonase takes a couple of weeks to kick in. Instead of a neti pot, you might want to try NeilMed rinse kit. I found it helpful to watch a couple of videos before trying to do the rinse. It feels a little weird, but it's good at clearing out gunk.

Re: Feeling awful even with low AHI
Yes, if you can't breathe through your nose while you're asleep, you will automatically start breathing through your mouth. I see you are using two masks: one FF and one pillows. You seem to have few leaks with the pillow mask; is it comfortable for you? For what it's worth, my allergist at one poin...

Re: Upgrade to new machine
You've got yourself an excellent new machine. Start with these settings: min EPAP 16 max IPAP 20 PS 2. Leave the other settings in their defaults. The "feel" of the new machine may be a little different; you might want to set it up outside your bedroom and use it during the day or evening while you ...

Re: Still tired even after usuing cpap.
Welcome! Nothing about those two charts jumps out at me as an explanation for why the one night was good and the other one bad. You could try turning your ramp off and raising your minimum to 7; that way you'd have the full benefit of your EPR of 3 all night. (The machine can't drop the pressure low...

Adding my welcome to the Sherriff's. I'm a Kaiser patient in the Bay Area and might be able to help if you have Kaiser-related questions. I hope you will be issued a ResMed Airsense 10 Autoset machine. Kaiser is likely to want to send you home with pressure settings of 4 - 20 and then make adjustmen...

Re: What equipment do I need to get started?
In a recent post, forum member Dogslobber summarizes some reasons to choose a ResMed 10 Airsense Autoset over the 11: Since releasing the Air 11, in the few years of the 11, it has received more complaints than the 10's 10 year history. louder lack of accessories leaky hose attachment flaw heating s...

Given that you're using a FF mask, is there a particular reason you want to avoid mouth breathing?

I would strongly suggest that you exercise at a different time of day. In your reply to Pugsy, you said the Modafinil keeps you awake when you go to sleep. You also replied to me that you don't have a problem falling asleep. Have you stopped taking Modafinil? Make sure you have the calendar and pie ...
