Re: What makes a machine say CA (central apnea / clear airway)?

I'm really not sure why you're worried about this or trying the things you're trying. But to emulate a CA, I think you want to exhale and then pause for at least 10 seconds before you inhale.

Re: Coleman's Oscar Review request

You might try playing around with your humidity level. Some stuff noses want more; some want less. Just so you know, the link you provided earlier isn't showing recent charts. Like you, I sometimes am surprised to find that if I have a drink or two I sleep more soundly. But I also found that even mo...

Re: Help please

Ozij, I'm glad you noticed this, which I didn't. It may be that higher EPR helps, but the evidence we have doesn't help us reach any conclusions about this.

Re: Coleman's Oscar Review request

Your OAs still look as though a number of them come after arousal breathing. I'm not sure quite what to make of this, especially in relation to advice about your settings. Does anyone else have thoughts about this? More generally, last night your first couple of hours look pretty peaceful, but then ...

Re: Help please

I agree with the advice that ozij has given you. I also note that your FLs improved when you raised your EPR from 1 to 3, so that pressure differential is helpful to you. Your FLs are quite heavy, even with EPR of 3. Do you have a stuffy nose? If not, I think you'd be a good candidate for a bilevel ...

Re: Coleman's Oscar Review request

Yes, that link works; thanks. I'm not convinced you're fully asleep during all those OAs; many of them are preceded by what looks like arousal breathing. Be that as it may, I have two thoughts about what you might try. First, there's some clustering of OAs, which suggests you may be tucking your chi...

Well, travel is always unpredictable. I've had amazingly good nights in hotels and amazingly bad ones. I'm glad that on the whole you're doing well.

For some reason the link isn't working; it just takes me to a request that I sign in.

Re: Minimum pressure too low and causing microarousals?

The variability could reflect periods of REM sleep. Hard to know. I basically agree with LSAT, though you might try some EPR to see whether that helps reduce flow limitations. I would leave your pressure settings right where they are and try EPR of 1 to start with. FLs may or may not affect the qual...

Re: Not enjoying CPAP

It'd be really good if you could get a ResMed Airsense 10 Autoset machine. You might try what Chicago Granny suggests. Do you know whether your prescription for your machine specifies Luna? If it does, you'll probably need a new scrip. If you live in the US, you can get one from a cooperative physic...

Re: Coleman's Oscar Review request

It's a shame that all periodic breathing is labeled "Cheyne-Stokes" breathing. CS is a small subset of periodic breathing, and it has a distinctive flow rate. If you zoom in on about 6 or 7 minutes in the CS-flagged segment, someplace where there are a lot of CA flags, we can take a look to confirm ...

Re: Not enjoying CPAP

Welcome! It's really hard to know ahead of time whether a mask will fit, especially if you have no chance to hold it in place on your face. What works for one person may just not work for another, so it's hard for other people to advise you about trying the F30 or F40. But other people here may have...

Do you think the leaks interfere with sound sleep? If you don't think they do, then I'd say don't worry about them unless they go up into large-leak territory.

Re: Coleman's Oscar Review request

By all means try a full-face mask. For some people, they are just the ticket, and you won't know whether that's true of you unless you give it a try. Finding the right mask can involve some trial and error, so do experiment to find what's right for you. If you switch to a FFM, change your mask setti...
