Re: What? Mouth breathing is ok?

Without mouth tape I get 30%+ large leak every night. With it, usually zero.

Nothing was taken out of context. As I said, the Reddit "sleep tech" was only concerned about mouth inhaling. They were clueless about mouth leak and contradicted the person who explained it.

Re: What? Mouth breathing is ok?

Time to try out that "Foes" functionality. No time for trolls.

Re: What? Mouth breathing is ok?

Yes really. The posts you are talking about, he is talking about inhaling through your mouth being bad. Not mouth leak. He has no problem with exhaling through the mouth. The original poster ("OP") asked: "New to CPAP - wear a nasal pillow - Woke up twice through the night blowing air out of my mout...

Re: What? Mouth breathing is ok?

I have tried layering it like that but it seems often saliva makes it come apart in the middle of the night. Alternately if I use a lot of layers I can make a strong one but then I can't open my mouth which kind of defeats the purpose, might as well use the 1 inch micropore tape. I like the blue tap...

Re: What? Mouth breathing is ok?

Really wish they made that blue sensitive skin tape in 1 inch width instead of 1/2".

What? Mouth breathing is ok?

Just read this on Reddit. It sounded like complete nonsense but the tagline made me do a double take. Is this person serious? Registered Polysomnographic Technologist Yes, it's ok to vent pressure out your mouth at times. It's not a loss of treatment pressure is called oral venting. Your body has di...

Re: Phillips / Philips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread

Received a re-certified Dreamstation machine the other day. Interestingly the patient portal still said my replacement would be shipped in October for the last week but today it says it was already shipped. Surprised they did not require a signature given the cost of these things. Just left outside ...

Re: Have you ever woken up from an obstructive apnea?

For the benefit of anyone Googling "cpap" and "CHS" in the future....here are some graphs. Last day I took hemp gummies was August 8. Sleep disturbances begin about ten days later. https://i.imgur.com/ZZFhO47.jpg Last night was the worst yet for pressure and AHI. https://i.imgur.com/UzxDnz8.jpg I th...

Re: Have you ever woken up from an obstructive apnea?

This is getting quite extraordinary. Machine said 5.9 events per hour (0.5 central). I've never seen a number over 5 the whole time I've used CPAP (since early 2017). I usually am at 1 or 2. Last 4 nights have been 3.6, 3.6, 4, and now 5.6. Leak 2L which is nothing. Pressure was 16.2 on the machine ...

Re: Have you ever woken up from an obstructive apnea?

Thanks. I never got to the vomiting stage fortunately. Just other strange symptoms - feelings like hunger pangs (after I had eaten and was full), weird moving little stomach cramps that would move moment by moment from one area to another, occasional random queasiness that I always would think was c...

Re: Have you ever woken up from an obstructive apnea?

Thanks for the replies. The more I think about it the more it sounds like it was caused by a nightmare. About ten days ago I stopped using (legal) hemp products because I was starting to develop symptoms that I recognized as being the prodromal phase of CHS . I have been having withdrawal effects bu...

Re: Have you ever woken up from an obstructive apnea?

Well looking through the past month the pressure never went above 13. This time it skyrocketed to 17 before I woke up and took it off. Something strange definitely happened.

Re: Have you ever woken up from an obstructive apnea?

Blocked what? The air intake for the machine couldn't be blocked, the machine is on a shelf on my nightstand. I don't have a cat. If the intake was blocked I don't see why OSCAR would show it blowing at high pressure nor the obstructive apneas, of which there are a bunch around that time. The output...

Re: Phillips / Philips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread

After another email from them I called them and went through the process to request an APAP without giving them any scrip. I am waiting to see if/when one shows up. Appreciate the info above about not having to return a System 1, that would have freaked me out if I had seen it in the box when I get ...
