Re: Help my poor nose!

When I had that problem, I used a small piece of moleskin on my nose every night. You can find it in the foot care section of Walmart or drug store. If you decide you need to use it for an extended period of time, you can buy rolls of it from Amazon.

Re: New ResMed full face mask....the F40

I'm always looking for a "better" full face mask. I have used the Evora since shortly after it came out. I will check with my local DME on Monday to see if they have it in stock, yet. Doesn't look good. They don't have it in stock, and the person I talked to said she didn't know if they would stock ...

Re: CPAP recommendation (DS1 alternative)

The most recommended machine here is the ResMed Air Sense 11 automatic. A close second is the Air Sense 10 automatic or automatic for her.I'm slightly biased as I have only used ResMed machines. The sleep lab my wife and I use only prescribes ResMed machines.

Re: Cleaning CPAP Equipment

As often stated here on this forum, we all clean to the leave we are comfortable with. If someone wants to clean things every day, that's fine. If they only monthly, that's fine, too. What ever level of cleanliness you are comfortable with is up to you.

Re: Inclined bed: a solution for apnea's and snoring...?

I have used an adjustable (inclined) bed for several years because of severe arthritis of the spine. When I did my sleep study, I used their hospital bed so I could raise my head when I slept. My AHI was 49 when sleeping with my head raised. I don't think the inclined bed helped me very much with my...

Re: New to taking ownership of CPAP and need some guidance.

It takes some of us quite a while to get used to sleeping with that alien thing on our face. When you only use the machine for a short period, the AHI tends to show a higher number than if you would have used it longer. Some people have found it helpful to wear the mask and machine while watching a ...

Re: Can climate affect sleep apnea?

Climate does not have a direct effect on sleep apnea. However, environmental changes can often affect how well you sleep. Any thing that affects how well you sleep will impact your sleep apnea. Being in that transition period from being awake to sleeping and sleeping to being awake makes us more sus...

Re: skin irritation

When I first started I had the same problem. I actually wore some of the skin off my nose. I used a band aid on my nose until it healed. After that, I used a small piece of moleskin on my nose at night. You can find moleskin at Walmart or your local drug store in the foot care area.

Re: Choosing a mask

We see the nurse practitioner once a year. We both got new machines last January, and picked up masks at that time. We use the DME recommended by the sleep clinic. The sleep clinic, DME, our PCP and my cardiologist all come under the same medical system so everyone has access to all of our medical r...

There was a user here on the forum that said he could get several months use out of one cushion by using a mask liner. I think he said he got it from Padacheek.

Sounds like big jerk to me. Mask prescriptions should simply state "Mask of patient's choice."

Re: Let's play a game and maybe learn something while playing

The first two minutes you appear to be awake as indicated by the irregular breathing pattern. The next two minutes, the breathing shows a very steady rhythm which would be consistent with sleeping. If you can fall asleep within two minutes of putting the mask on, you are doing much better than I do....

Re: Made A Cleaning Mistake

As long as yo rinsed it after the alcohol, you removed any residual alcohol. Alcohol has a great affinity for water, and will easily mix with it. If there were any alcohol left in the water reservoir after you rinsed it out, it would be greatly diluted and present no danger to you.

Re: Newbie here - Could you help me interpret data please?

The CA you highlighted looks like you were probably awake when it happened. The only thing I would recommend is to raise your minimum pressure to 8 or 9, preferably 9. If you think that 9 is too much of a change, go to8 for a couple nights, then try 9. That will help with the hypopneas.

Re: alternating masks

Some of us use more than one mask. There is really no down side to it. I normally use the Evora full face mask, but occasionally swap back to my F20 just for something different. Others here on the forum alternate between masks more often.
