Chin Strap That Actually Works
I hope this doesn't violate the rules, but for the last few months, I have been struggling to find a solution for my mouth popping open (something that has only happened since I lost weight), and I finally came up with a solution that works. My mouth leaks are now zero, the new chin strap stays in p...

Re: CPAP seems to be working for me, not so much for my wife
My wife had a similar issue. I promise that with time, she will get used to it. You can help by putting the CPAP on a level below the surface of the bed.

Re: aerophagia and snoring - related?
Instead of you starting a new thread to get help with this, maybe JDS should start a new thread since you have totally hijacked his. Since I did not ask for or require help, I don't see how I have hijacked the thread. My comment on the post was to let the OP know that there is an application ...

Re: aerophagia and snoring - related?
snoring ≠ apnea apnea ≠ snoring Yes, but Not Snoring = Probably No Apnea (the best one can determine without a sleep study) and (Snoring without pausing) = No Apnea, Just out of curiosity, what method would you use to screen for sleep apnea without using anything that costs money? I have seen sever...

Re: aerophagia and snoring - related?
I am currently in the process of using this app to determine if my recent weight loss merits another sleep study to see if I don't need the cpap any more. There are better ways to do that. If you want help, start a new thread. I know there are more effective ways (a recording pulseoximter would be ...

Re: aerophagia and snoring - related?
There is an android/iphone app called snorelab. It tracks your snoring through the night, and even allows all night audio recording so you can review minute by minute what is going on. The playback screen is timestamped, and easy to use. It costs about $12 for the premium version that does the all n...

Re: New Mouth Leaks
I haven't personally experienced this yet (though I think I will soon, shedding weight right now :)) but I have read on here that yes, when the size and shape of your face changes, you'll get leaks. It should just be a matter of readjusting your straps, I don't think a smaller mask size would be ne...

Re: Panic at thought of CPAP.
I find your theory about your anxiety being a result of sleep apnea interesting You've made 400 posts in this forum and are just now learning that sleep deprivation and oxygen desats can cause anxiety??? If you read my post carefully, I was referring to the reference to the correlation between clau...

Re: first night, first timer
I am still struggling trying accept this mask. I don't like having something over my mouth. I decreased the temperature and had one night where I was able to actually fall asleep with the machine running. The mask was on without any air leaking. The machine isn't registering that there are leaks bu...

Re: first night, first timer
I checked my settings and discovered that the tube temperature was set at auto, which it looks like could go as high as 85 or 90. What would be the suggested temp to try? I lowered it to 78 Tube temperature Auto is a bit of a misnomer. In auto, it is 80 degrees according to the manual. i really don...

Re: 1-2 suffocation episodes per night
I am not sure if this has been asked, but are you absolutely certain you need a full face mask? Nasal pillows are a lot easier for this type of situation. Another thing you may want to try is using "ramp only" epr. That way while you are sleeping, you are getting used to breathing out against pressu...

Re: Please explain RERAs
"is a disturbance in your breathing flow that can't be attributed to anything else, apnea, hypopnea, snore, flow limitation..." is bullshit. It is not even close to an explanation. You will note how RobySue politely correct what were fairly minor inaccuracies in my interpretation. I am not sure why ...

Re: Please explain RERAs
Can someone explain RERA events, how they affect sleep apnea (if they do), and how do they affect your sleep? I have read the definition and looked online, but need it explained in more detail to what causes it or how to prevent them. I have between 3 and 5 a night. that's really not enough to worr...
