Re: Philips Respironics and ResMed: 5-year unit replacement

My Phillips System 1 ASV has 18,000+ hours on it it. The knob has broken off long ago and the auto start sensor has gotten very unreliable, but the machine otherwise is working fine as far as I know (Of course it has been recalled and I have been replaced with a new ResMed AirCurve 10 ASV)

Re: Surprising AHI improvment on ASV with switch to ResMed

Nice point. helpful perspective! :!: Having a great deal of experience in the medical field I have now come to understand there may be no doctor who scrutinizes much of anything anymore and if one wants absolute optimization, one is going to have to do it for themselves. Thank goodness we live in an...

Re: Surprising AHI improvment on ASV with switch to ResMed

Which then makes one wonder why my sleep specialist doctor prescribed the Phillips ASV way back in 2014 instead of the ResMed. I suppose there might be some synical answers to this question, but since he is highly trained and has apnea himself, he might have known this. He told me back then that he ...

Re: ResMed Cellular data and app question

Interesting followup on this subject. I discussed this with my new Medicare DME clinician (who was great by the way) and she told me not to turn it off because especially during the initial "rental" period, they absolutely had to have the data in THEIR system to prove compliance to the insurer. Afte...

Re: Does System one heated tube fit a deam station machine?

Thanks Pugsy! I will take your advice and hold onto them. If they don't eventually fit, I will look to give them away, but from what I am hearing, the system one is ancient history. You are always so helpful. Thanks.

Surprising AHI improvment on ASV with switch to ResMed

Because of the recall, I have been switched from a Phillips to a ResMed ASV machine. On my old Phillips, my AHIs were getting ever so slightly worse over 7 years, starting at 0-1.0 at the beginning of that time period and gradually increasing to 3-ish recently when I switched. With a week's use of m...

Does System one heated tube fit a deam station machine?

I have some reserve new system one heated tubes for my recalled Phillips system one ASV machine. I expect they will eventually give me a replacement machine which will most likely be in the dream station line. I can't find through various searches whether the old system one heated tube will fit the ...

Re: Success in training use of nasal pillows for mouth breathers?

Ooo sorry to be late to the party but I have just gotten back on the board due to needing advice fon a change of machine. I too am a mouth breather all my life and have always thought that if somebody taped my mouth, I would die (nightmare material!) I tried a few full face masks but found them real...

Re: ResMed Cellular data and app question

palerider, I love it: "Yes"

Jlfinkels, those are interesting thoughts. Thanks for that. Perhaps I will try it out along with OSCAR. I note that when I get into the clinician menu, I can turn it off. Will think on it!

Re: ResMed Aircurve 10 ASV BPM Question

Man, Pugsy and Palerider, you people are sooooo helpful. Always a great answer. What an amazing service you are to the community. I saw recently a poster's complaints (LOL). Please just ignore people like that and delete them. Know that you are providing amazing aid to people who have questions that...

ResMed Cellular data and app question

Hi there. Love this place! I have a new ResMed AirCurve 10 ASV (Phillips replacement). Do I understand the cellular feature correctly? : If I want to use the cell phone app, the machine has to communicate with a the ResMed website via cellular transmission. Then the app contacts the website to give ...
