Re: Phillips / Philips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread

We have three BiPap Auto 960P / System One 60 machines which were registered over a year ago. Finally, 2 of them have been matched and “assigned to a DME for fulfilment”. The problem is that other than my main machine, which I did get from a DME many years ago, the others were acquired “used” so I h...

Re: travel / backup machine suggestions

Thanks to @GrumpyHere, they let me know that a "ResMed S9 VPAP Adapt with ASV" model 36037 was equivalent to the AirCurve 10 ASV, just older. I was able to get one yesterday for $200 (with 10,000 hours). From what I can tell, that is a really good price. The main unit was in great shape, the H5i was...

Re: travel / backup machine suggestions

PS is the difference between inhale and exhale. Unfortunately that particular version of the sleep report doesn't really show us what the PS is doing other than the spikes in the pressure graphs. The daily detailed report and it's statistics on the left side might help out better. It does look like...

Re: travel / backup machine suggestions

What factors would stop you from using your main machine for travel? I would rather not take the expensive machine with me in case it gets damaged, stolen, etc. I would need to pay for the repairs and/or replacement. Years ago, I was able to purchase a second 960P so it was the same model that I to...

Re: travel / backup machine suggestions

My question, is what machine can I use for my backup / travel? Can I use the AirCurve 10 Autoset For her? Any others? Will something less expensive than the full ASV work for me? It all depends on why the ASV is working for you as to how much success (or not) a different machine would entail. The o...

travel / backup machine suggestions

I recently upgraded from recalled SystemOne 960P to an AirCurve 10 ASV. I am much happier with the AirCurve – its quieter and seems easier on me, BTW. I am looking for a travel / backup machine, and am not inclined to purchase a second ASV as they are very expensive. I believe I only have mild Apnea...

Re: Phillips / Philips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread

So I have a 7 year old BiPap 960P System One which is under the recall. I am working with Aetna to have them replace it (repairs to make DME devices usable again is covered under my plan, so I am arguing they need to pay for a new machine). The have agreed, however they will not pay for another Phil...

Re: Is there an easy way to merge data from old and new PAP

You don't have to do anything special with the software...just import/download as usual with the new SD card in the same user profile. Neither SleepyHead or Encore will have a problem with multiple machines being under one user profile. Regarding the on/off beep. Look in the clinical setup for "Sil...

Re: Lightweight Battery Options for Respironics BiPAP autoSV Adv

Does anyone have a tested, lightweight battery solution for running a REMStar 60 Series BiPAP autoSV Advanced (model DS960)? So, any other ideas for a light weight solution which will power the Respironics BiPAP autoSV Advanced? How (where) does the Respironics cigarette lighter plug connect to thi...

Lightweight Battery Options for Respironics BiPAP autoSV Adv

Does anyone have a tested, lightweight battery solution for running a REMStar 60 Series BiPAP autoSV Advanced (model DS960)? I looked at John’s “build your own” solution (http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=49115), and ended up buying instead. I did the Sears JumpStart Platinum Portable Power 11...

Apria Sending Generic Supplies versus OEM?

I placed my first order for supplies from Apria (forced to use them from my Insurance provider). The supplies arrived the next day, but was surprised that the filters and hose were “Apria Brand” and not from Respironics. The Wisp Pillows were genuine, but not the rest. Any reason to be concerned abo...

Re: Buy versus "rent to own" insurance challenges?

So, an interesting turn of events…. Not sure if my letters to BCBS or intervention from my company’s plan administrator did the trick, but I got a call from my local DME’s office manager (Apria… which I now have a direct dial to the local office – yeah!). He said they are converting my BiPAP to a “f...

Re: Buy versus "rent to own" insurance challenges?

My insurance company will pay $320 per month for 10 months or a total $3,200 for this machine. This is the “negotiated” rate with the DME’s they have me use (declared to be “in network”). On paper, they charge a much higher rate, but agree to only receive this amount. I have a HSA, which means I hav...

Re: Buy versus "rent to own" insurance challenges?

The "PR System One REMStar 60 Series BiPAP autoSV Advanced" is $320 per month or $3,200 total. Pushing into next year for 2 payments is a $640 hit which I don't want to take.

Buy versus "rent to own" insurance challenges?

Has anyone gone through insurance h*ll trying to buy a BiPAP machine outright (versus “rent to own”)? I have been trying to get BCBS to authorize the outright purchase of my machine so that I can apply it to my deductible this year. Between the machine, 2 sleep studies, and supplies, I will hit my o...
