Re: New xPAP side effect
Much like Bruce Willis saw dead people, I see sleep apnea sufferers. I'm stuck in a meeting room with 50 people for three days. By day two I can easily identify the six people who wear headgear at night from the strap marks on their upper cheeks. I had lunch with two business associates, one of who...

Re: No matter what I do, I keep getting leaks
I was fortunate that my leaks went way down when the maximum pressure setting was reduced. Then the F&P Simplus FFM brought to zero nearly all the time. (Until last summer when I grew a beard, that is.) As others have said, keep on trying different solutions until you reach the optimized best for y...

Re: High pitched whistling noise driving me crazy.
I forgot to mention, I wear foam earplugs, too. Does not help with the exhalation flap squeal, since it is so close to my face.

Re: High pitched whistling noise driving me crazy.
I have had a whistling or high frequency buzzing sound at the air flap where the hose connects to the hard plastic mask connector. Only happens when the bedroom is cool and moisture forms on the mask side of the flap. I disconnect the hose from the mask and forcefully blow through the flap assembly....

Re: New guy here with doubts and a question
Christopher, When I first started, I would rip the mask off in frustration because I either felt like I was suffocating or the pressure got so high it blew leaks around the mask. My support team (Tech or doc, can't remember) raised the minimum and lowered the maximum pressure ranges. Also, it took 5...

Re: How long does a face mask typically last?
I am so thankful the Department of Veterans Affairs (aka VA) follows the HCPCS Code Replacement Frequency cited in a previous post! If you or your OSA loved one has not endured the somewhat unpleasant enrollment and/or Service Connected Claim process, it has been very much worth the effort, for me. ...

Re: Cleaning Questions
I wash the mask when I know I have drooled, when it is very warm and my face has sweat, and if my Large Leak is higher than zero %.

Re: Claustrophobic Having a Hard Time
It took about 5 visits in 6 months to get the minimum pressure raised, the maximum lowered, try several different mose-hoses and full face masks. Thankfully, I had a superb DME (Durable Medical Equipment) vendor and great support team at VA. Next, I had made a promise not to drop out for 6 months fo...

Re: anyone else wearing earplugs every night?
I, also, have worn foam earplugs all night for several years. When I started CPAP-APAP I continued on. Last summer I went on a low budget road trip with two pals and gave them both a pair of plugs for my machine noise. Neither used them and slept well.

Re: I'm new to CPAP - need advise please?
I used to play oboe (hautbois for cross word puzzlers). There are around 50 tiny adjustment screws to assure proper function. If you adjust one, that may effect 3 or 4 others. The point is DO NOT GIVE UP OR BECOME DISCOURAGED! Fix one thing like minimum pressure and you may still need to systematica...

Re: Sore nose!
For me, it was full face mask designs that required very tight straps. Wore a hole on the bridge of my nose. Changed to Fisher Paykel Simplus mask which seals very well on my particular face. As one of our colleagues here said: masks should "float" on our faces, not be since down like industrial res...

Re: Medicare & Machine Replacement?
Hi! Hoping you can help me figure out what I can do to help my dad out in Iowa. He has severe sleep apnea. His cpap machine is 7 years old. A month ago, the machine quit working in the middle of the night. It was frightening to both him and my mom because he started coughing with the full face mask...
