Re: Does my APAP settings need adjusting?

@ChicagoGranny now that’s interesting. I got my machines from the hospital I did my sleep study 10 years ago. I’ve been using them all along and only recently have I encountered problems. Or at least potential problems because I can’t say for sure the sleep jerks are linked to the apnea and the mach...

Re: Does my APAP settings need adjusting?

BTW my setting is on Auto. 4cmH2O min and 20cm max. The shudder i get is just as describe: a single shudder that shakes the body but enough to disturb sleep. As an experiment I took off the mask and see if that happens and sure enough the shudders don't happen. Which is why I think it's a reaction t...

Re: Does my APAP settings need adjusting?

Thanks all for replying. I’ve been struggling with hypnic jerks for a while and on medication. But lately I find that swapping out the leaky pipe and loosening the mask helped symptoms a bit and then they return again. I thought I should do a process of elimination and find out if it’s the respironi...

Does my APAP settings need adjusting?

I’m using a Philips Respironics System One APAP with a nose pillow. Recently I’ve lost some weight and been experiencing these strange convulsions before falling asleep. They are like single sleep starts but they happen while I’m aware I’m not asleep. I did an experiment to see if these convulsions ...

Re: Are CPAP machine hose standard?

Thanks All - these are super practical advice. I've duct taped it for the time being but probably get a new one in time
I have to hoses and both seem to have punctured. They puncture quite easily

Are CPAP machine hose standard?

Hi there, I use a Philips Respironics ResMed machine, and lately I'm noticing that the hose may be leaking air (one end start making hissing sounds when switched on). When I look online I can only find "standard tubing for Dreamstation" which isn't the machine I have. Will they work with my ResMed m...

Re: Friction-caused hair loss using DreamWear nasal mask?

Thank you all. I like this particular mask because the air vent bit doesn’t get in the way, and generally I get a much less fidgety and restful sleep. I’ve bought myself one of those sleep caps on Amazon made for hair loss and chemo patients. Then I’ll put the mask on top. Hopefully that works (and ...

Friction-caused hair loss using DreamWear nasal mask?

Is it possible to loose hair on your crown (pattern hair loss) from using a nasal mask such as DreamWear? The silicon bit will be rubbing against the top of your hair nightly. Just want to know if anyone have had this experience? And what is the solution to mitigate this? I don’t have any hereditary...

Respironics Humidifier not conducting heat

Wonder if anyone can help: my Respironics Humidifier was working fine last winter. I disconnected it in the summer months and now something is not quite right when i reconnect: The heating plate within the humidifier is working fine (it's hot to the touch when turned on), but the plate on the water ...

Limescale build up inside the water compartment

I've been using bottled water like Evian for the water compartment of the humidifier. Am I in fact using the correct type of bottled water? Been doing this for a few years now, and I'm getting quite a bit of limescale in the water chamber - which I have to clear out periodically. God only knows how ...

Re: Energy level - 2 years on

I take 0.5mg of Clonazepam nightly – this is due to a mental breakdown two years ago caused by hypnic jerks. I started with 3mg and gradually reduced the dosage over the last two years. I usually get up once for toilet break per night.

Energy level - 2 years on

I've been using CPAP for two years. My compliance has been good: the data chip revealed that, for example, in the last fortnight, compliance was near 100% with an AHI of around 1.5. I have been sleeping an average of 7 to 8 hours. Yet often I still feel that 'brain-needs-to-switch-off' sort of tired...
