Re: Should Guests Be allowed to Post?

I welcome fresh ideas and good questions. They benefit everyone, though spam is a real pain. A captcha might be good. And perhaps the ability for members to delete posts that are intended to inflame and troll. We can be the moderators.

Re: Doc says I need some work on my sinuses

My husband and I are currently talking about this surgery - and I told him that just about everyone here agrees that I should stay a night instead of the couple of hours after surgery. He asked me to please ask you what was the hardships your caretakers and you experienced when you or someone you kn...

Re: Doc says I need some work on my sinuses

Best wishes for an uneventful procedure and a speedy recovery. Thank you, chunkyfrog! If it takes place, it will probably take place in April or May as I have a trip to Connecticut do to welcome my daughter's second baby into the world! Can't fly for a while after surgery, so surgery will have to w...

Re: Doc says I need some work on my sinuses

I had my deviated septum done before CPAP started. Breathe really well afterwards. It was uncomfortable for 10 days with a packing splint in both nostrils and my mouth did dry out. There was no pain that sticks in my mind, well controlled with meds. I would do it again for the relief that I got fro...

Re: Doc says I need some work on my sinuses

I had this done a few years ago. Before I had frequent sinus infections and problems. I cannot believe the improvement afterward. The results for me were well worth the couple of days of discomfort for recovery. Still on the CPAP but I can breathe during the day. Did you have to take any time off w...

Re: Doc says I need some work on my sinuses

Yes, I've read that you absolutely should not wear glasses after you have the surgery. I barely wore them for the first few days - I was too tender! But I was so very blind without them, and in the dry I have such a hard time wearing contacts (and my face was swollen, which just made it worse). But...

Re: Doc says I need some work on my sinuses

And I'm inclined to agree - don't expect it to get me off of CPAP - and won't be disappointed at all if I remain. I have a deviated septum (never knew!). I originally went to see an ENT to see if the polyp I know I have can be removed. He couldn't see the polyp because my right sinus is so blocked ...

Re: Doc says I need some work on my sinuses

I had a septoplasty a few years ago. Sadly, it didn't entirely take (some of it got misaligned again after, which I'm growing more and more suspicious was due to the constant pressure of my heavy, heavy glasses while I was still healing). There was some improvement, though, and my sinus infections ...

Re: Autism and maternal apnea

Relax Borg. You would not want her in your Borg. She is not suitable for assimilation. She's a porno-person. ok. What does immunization have to do with whether SLEEP APNEA IN THE MOTHER COULD BE A CAUSE OF AUTISM IN THE CHILD? Please get off your soap box about immunizations and stop hijacking this...

Re: Autism and maternal apnea

It would sort of make sense that mom's apnea might increase the risk of apnea or other brain problems. I think it's a sure thing that apnea during pregnancy is bad for the baby. I don't know it there are any studies particularly about apnea vs. autism. We really don't know much about the causes of ...

Re: Autism and maternal apnea

This is what I was thinking. . . have they even thought that this might be an issue? It seems that the studies in pregnant women with apnea and how it effects the baby is really very poor. Sometimes I wonder where scientist's brains are at. Other then doing population studies, just how are you goin...

Re: Autism and maternal apnea

Wow I never even considered this. My son has Aspergers (mild autism) and I have OSA. I believe I've had it since childhood or teenage years. He was my first child. Both pregnancies were hard. I threw up constantly and bled off and on throughout. I wasn't overweight when I had my children so that wa...
