Insurance schedule

Good evening. I think my DME is an idiot. Aside from the fact that he requires me to notify him monthly to send me my 2 filters and 2 nasal pillows, I think he's on his own schedule. I have BCBS. If I recall correctly, it seems that I should get the pillow interface / mask every 3 months, 2 pillows ...

Re: Brand New and Terrified

Welcome to the support group. I can't help but wonder if sleep doctors and RTs might benefit from partnering with folks to start up local support groups, not unlike AA or NA. Seriously. Not that we have an "addiction" to getting better sleep (some of us might ), but that these other groups share the...

Re: Recommend a minimal nasal mask

Airfit P10. I just started with this after 5 years on the Swift Fx Nasal Pillows. I'll never go back. The P10 is light and incredible.

Re: Can someone please help me

you have it backwards... nasal masks, and even more so pillows, require *MORE* pressure at the machine, to compensate for the smaller holes, and thus more restrictive interface. this is handled automatically by setting the mask type appropriately. the same as a smaller hose requires more at machine...

Re: Just replaced S9

I flew Allegiant Air last year, and my CPAP was considered a medical device. I carried it on; no way was I going to put it in checked baggage, even if it was my back up. I've seen enough news reports about bag handlers I used to travel 12-15 times a year, often by plane. Never an issue. And, please...

Re: Can someone please help me

Has he always had the full face mask? If this has changed, but the machine hasn't been set for the change, the flow rate and pressure may be different than what he needs now (i.e. if he started with a nasal mask or pillows, that may not be enough pressure for the full face). I realize I'm grasping a...

Re: Just replaced S9

in another vote for keeping it as a spare, i had a friend staying over during the holidays who'd made the mistake of putting her spare machine in her checked baggage, which didn't go where she did. since I have spares (masks, hoses, machines) she didn't have to do without.... though she has since l...

Re: CPAP MACHINE BROKE and a bad DME

Yes, exactly! Here's the follow up. I didn't get a call back from them so I called their emergency number AGAIN. They did not return my call so I called the number of the respiratory guy by pressing redial. He told me I would have to wait until Monday and they'd see if my machine was still under wa...

Re: CPAP MACHINE BROKE and a bad DME

Here's the thing about any business. Inventory costs them money. Their job is distribution. Get it in, set it up, get it out to the consumer. A machine in stock is not making them money.

Which makes it weird that car dealerships tout hundreds of cars on a lot...

Re: CPAP MACHINE BROKE and a bad DME

This is a follow up: The DME called me back and said they don't have another machine, but they do have another humidifier. I told him I don't want a FOURTH humidifier, I need a machine that works and that I wanted to talk to the supervisor about this. I hope I get a call soon! How many reputable DM...

Re: CPAP MACHINE BROKE and a bad DME

Variables being what they are, the fact that you've been through 3 H5is in less than 8 months, my money is that it's on the unit itself and not the humidifier. I wonder if they'd be willing to take it for trade for a replacement of the same (i.e. refurbish it). Edited: the unit portion of the CONNEC...
