Re: Vauto and flow limitations = higher AHI?

When I was using the ResMed Airsense 10 Autoset (first 10 months of therapy) I typically used a pressure of 11-20 with an EPR of 3 resulting in a typical AHI of 0.5. Setting up the ResMed AirCurve 10 Vauto with a min EPAP of 8 and max IPAP of 20 with PS 3 (which I thought was roughly the same setti...

Has anyone heard anything about the next iteration of the Bleep system called Eclipse?
I have to echo Pugsy's comment. I can't comment other than saying "I'm liking it".

Indeed, that's a disappointing efficiency level.

Re: Resmed Airsense 11 - AC/DC adapter?

In my tests, the standard AC/DC converter in combination with a sine-wave inverter was about 64-70% efficient, while the DC/DC converter was about 72-78% efficient. Interesting, I think I've read that the standard S9 (and presumably air 10) DC/DC converter is 90%+ but I might be imagining that, or ...

Re: OSCAR v1.3.1 is released - January 23, 2022

Having been involved (in some fashion) with the development of sleepyhead from 0.98 and later (except for 1.1) and then Oscar, (though not much of late, I hope to change that), I have to say, from a somewhat insiders perspective that, The OSCAR team is AMAZING . They've pulled together and work tow...

Re: "False" CA's but isn't it still Apnea?

Thank you for taking time to answer my question. I squirm during the night because of back pain. Technically I do not turn over, I only turn once during the night. I know we all hold our breath off and on during the day. It seems like 50-81 times is excessive. And the CA’s are all preceded by errat...

Re: Why do some people hate full face masks?

In contrast, I assume a full face mask of the right size that covers the mouth and nose without leakage or excess pressure anywhere would work for almost everyone without problems, and would need less pressure which would in turn produce less noise. I think I missed addressing one fact here that yo...

Re: Why do some people hate full face masks?

XPAP machines compensate for leaks with more VOLUME......NOT PRESSURE. Basic physics: to force more air through the tubes, as well as into the nose if air leaks out the mouth, you need to generate at least a little more pressure at the machine. Which makes it noisier. You don't understand as much a...

Re: Why do some people hate full face masks?

pressure is NEVER increased to 'compensate' for leaks. NEVER More pressure is used solely to open airways. But to keep the airways open, you need to have enough pressure inside your airway to open it. If a lot of the air leaks, the CPAP machine must apply more air pressure to provide the same press...

Re: Why do some people hate full face masks?

I don't understand why such masks aren't more popular, especially among people who sometimes open their mouth. And I assume the masks that just touch the bottom of the nose are relatively less effective, require more pressure, and don't work at all with mouth breathers. Is there a good reason? For ...

Re: "False" CA's but isn't it still Apnea?

However, when I look at OSCAR it shows that during the supposed CA's there is still no breathing, sometimes for to 20 seconds. Surely I don't hold my breath for that long. What makes you think that? 'apnea' = temporarily not breathing. one holds ones breath all the time during he day, unconsciously...

Try setting trigger to high, or very high.
thank you!

setting trigger to very high did the trick and i was able to breathe much more normally.

actually got some sleep.

yay!
In essence, setting the trigger higher encourages the machine to help you more, with less effort on your part.

Re: Resvent ibreeze

Made in CHINA--need we say more? Probably not pre-infected; but why gamble? So's your ipad. Made in China doesn't automatically mean garbage. Some is, some isn't. Just like "Made in the USA" doesn't mean quality, because there are shoddy manufacturing standards and "I don't care" workers here too.

Re: zonker therapy thread redux: vauto is coming

in the end, after much futzing around, i set back to vauto mode with ipap at 25 and epap at 16.4. i have the cycle set at medium. and i have the trigger set at very low. this felt much better. i was able to breathe naturally and much more peacefully. Those aren't your settings. now, i see in my ear...
