Re: AHI displayed on machine vs. a sleep study

But, during REM, it's over 9. and you had some significant O2 desats. But does Medicare pay attention to any data other than AHI? Or are you suggesting that a lab study might show higher total AHI on the basis of what you're pointing out? Thank you. I'm not suggesting anything about what Medicare w...

It does indeed supply more information than my doctor offered, though the magic number seems to be only 1.5, so not much of a chance, right?

Re: Are "in-line filters" legit and useful? or just a scam?

And the AB setting tip is really useful as well - I will probably be getting a resmed device The AB setting just compensates for the extra flow resistance that the AB filter introduces into the circuit. I use AB filters myself, not because I'm afraid of bacteria or anything, but because they help t...

Re: Buying BIPAP online- travel tips for Bipap machine?

recommended Bipap 18/13. (I don't know what my AHI was from the study) That'll exacerbate your centrals. Interesting. Can you explain how? or why? I had assumed because of history of central apnea the doc would prescribe a machine that could give a baseline breaths (or is it backup breaths?) but th...

What noise? My Airsense 10 Autoset for her is "vewwy, vewwy" quiet. As advertised. unfortunately, i am one of those in the minority. i'm getting a distinct buzzing sound out of the blower and up the hose (i think) but definitely getting the buzz. currently combating it via noise machine and earbuds...

Re: YEA My First Oscar submission

I am sorry I am being so slow. First I am on a Macbook. My arrows move forward and back in time. I zoom in by clicking and zoom out by using escape. Up and down arrows should zoom in and out, or out and in, [/quote] I think that you were asleep, but it would be more clear if you'd right click (or c...

Re: BiLevel Machine Suggestions and Question about AirCurve

Still awaiting reply from RX service to find out if they'll write it up for BiLevel, but figured I should start researching models asap in case it works out. There is apparently a shortage of machines due to supply chain and probably more so now the Philips recall, so every second counts. Anyway......

Re: Can I use antibacterial soap on humidifier

What defines "mild", anyway? If you can use it on yourself without getting a reaction--probably close enough. The idea is that tiny traces left after rinsing do not cause redness and itching. Since everyone is different, my mild may not be your mild. Probably best not to use industrial floor stripp...

Re: YEA My First Oscar submission

I am still learning about Oscar and truly do not understand APAP induced CA's versus SWJ versus whatever. Well, it's very "Simple", (did you hear the sarcasm? ;) ) 'swj' or more formally called 'transition apnea' is(are?) caused because your body has different systems that control awake breathing a...

Re: Can artificial light damage mask?

If you happen to have one, an ultrasonic cleaner is great for cleaning things like mask parts.Just fill with water, add a drop or two of dishwashing liquid, drop in the parts and turn it on. A quick rinse afterwards and you're done. Really vibrates the dirt out of holes and crevices. I happen to ha...

Re: Can I use antibacterial soap on humidifier

Don't know if it will damage it since resmed cleaning guide says use mild soap so thought I'd ask. "mild soap" is a vague and undefined term. If the soap doesn't harm your skin while it's being used on your dishes, it should be "mild" enough for these purposes. I've used unscented Dawn for *years* ...

thank you to everyone who replied more questions and clarification: - besides the higher pressure capability of a bilevel (relative to an apap), isn't the other difference of a bilevel that it can be set to a lower exhale pressure so it's easier to exhale against a high pressure? lower absolute pre...

Re: Can artificial light damage mask?

Ok, thanks... weird that I had not noticed any degradation before, at least not to the point I wasn't able to breathe with it anymore. You're supposed to clean the mesh on a regular basis, with dishwashing soap and an old toothbrush. I used to simply wash it by hand and under running water with dis...

Re: How to locate user manuals to change Cpap settings

Incan understand that some would see this as dangerous as people could change their settings incorrectly.[/quote That is what we call "A lie". There's NOTHING "dangerous" about changing settings, the worst possible thing would be 'less than optimal treatment" and given that almost everyone that set...
