Re: For anyone considering Medicare

"30 years old"----   I may steal that. You will like this story. A while back my husband got a phone call (scam call) about "my" bill for a hospital stay from 2 years ago. It was a scam for sure. 1...Neither I nor he haven't been hospitalized in years 2...when asked the name o...

Re: stuck

this will also increase the other events but will reduce the CA's. Only will work if EPR is the trigger/cause for the CAs/centrals. EPR triggering centrals isn't all that common and doesn't always cause centrals. You need to explain this little detail when you offer your (and Jason's) advice on usi...

Re: Best airflow nasal mask

When ramp is turned on the machine starts blowing air at 4 cm pressure which can sure make a person feel like there isn't enough air moving for comfort. We won't suffocate but it sure can feel like we are. Depending on which ramp setting (regular ramp or auto ramp) the machine takes its time ramping...

Re: Best airflow nasal mask

what does it do, and is it adjustable if I go into that mode? It drops the pressure by whatever you have it set at (1, 2 or 3 cm) during exhale and makes for a more comfortable breathing experience for a lot of people. I suggest you give it a try at least. Minimum 6 Max 14 EPR turned on full time.....

Re: Best airflow nasal mask

Machine is the ResMed11 It automatically ramps from 6 to a max of 14 if needed Do not know what exhale relief is Sounds like the settings are minimum pressure of 6 and can go to 14 if needed. Ramp is a separate function. Default ramp setting is 4. Are you using ramp? Meaning is ramp on or off? And ...

Do not know what exhale relief is
On the ResMed machine it is called EPR or exhale pressure relief

Using any exhale relief?

Using ramp?

I have used the N30. What you are describing happening with this mask isn't what my experience was.
Perhaps it's related more to settings than mask type or model.

Re: Central Apneas on Resmed Aircurve S11 VAuto

My questions are: 1) What number of CAs are considered abnormal? Above 5? 2) I understand that VAuto Resmed does NOT have a backup rate. Given that I have CAs, is this something to consider? ASV? 1...One must consistently see over 5 central apneas per hour average and the person MUST be asleep befo...

Re: Not sure if it was a bad decision but I made it anyway

Isn't PAP, or more specifically APAP used for treatment for people with UARS? It is used to treat UARS but you can't just set it to a range of pressures or god forbid the defaults and expect the machine to fix things. Doesn't work that way. Did that sleep study you got done mention Respiratory Even...

Re: Not sure if it was a bad decision but I made it anyway

Where are you located?

The auto adjusting algorithm was never designed to find optimal pressures for UARS. Did you know that?

Re: Feel worse going from cpap to bipap

If it were me I would start with varying the "trigger" settings to see if one of the other choices matches my respiration better.
If no luck there then maybe look at Ti max,
I don't suggest that people go messing with Ti min though..

Re: Advice on fine tuning my AS 11?

When I do get a cluster of CAs I do think I am kind of awake when they occur, at least that last hour before waking up. If you are awake when those centrals/CAs get flagged all that means is you weren't asleep and if you aren't asleep then anything flagged can be ignored. We can pause our breathing...

Re: Urgent ResMed filter question

Or is Resmed's package simply inconsistent? I think more likely just different packaging for different parts of the world. I seriously doubt someone has gone to all the time, trouble and expense to pass off total fakes for something like a little filter. The difference in color is an optical illusi...
