Re: Started Having Apnea Events While Dosing Off While on CPAP

Look on the face of your machine just in the lower right corner and tell us exactly what it says. ResMed AirSense 10...... CPAP? Elite? AutoSet? AutoSet for Her? If it says "CPAP" then your machine isn't going to show any detailed data that might help figure out what is going on right when you are f...

Pea green with envy. Cute trailer...even more envious of just being able to get away and going camping.

Re: Need some member input

Please....my post is about what I should do when new members post something for sale here. It's not about my own personal situation or the problems with PayPal or whatever. I don't need or want anyone's sympathy or telling me what I should or shouldn't do about my own personal problem. I don't know ...

Re: Who has the most number of hours on their machine?

I have a family friend who has been on cpap probably 30 years plus....he still has his original machine and it has over 30K hours on it he told me some time ago. It still blows air. He has other machines available and doesn't take the old dinosaur when traveling....but still uses the old dinosaur. I...

Re: Understanding Flow Limitations on Respironics Dreamstation

Respironics have (as far back as I remember) flagged FLs just like OAs, hyponeas or clear airway events (system one and newer models were first to flag CAs). Even back with the M Series and older models that didn't even do flow rate graphs at all...FLs were separate flagged events just not part of t...

Re: Question for my partner's father (85 year old) 26 AHI treatment?

The AirSense 10 machines can be used as a limited bilevel machine by just making use of the EPR exhale pressure relief setting and it may be enough to be both comfortable and help with his overall breathing. That's mainly what bilevel does anyway....allows for separate settings for inhale and exhale...

Re: Why is my Face Swollen?

I can understand wanting to find a different doctor....I have fired several in my life just because I didn't like them for whatever reason. I didn't mean to knock your home study....it was more than enough to get a reliable diagnosis in your situation. The fact that it didn't measure sleep status wo...

Re: Question for my partner's father (85 year old) 26 AHI treatment?

Tough one for sure. I wonder if maybe he could manage a nasal mask better??? While not ideal maybe if he is much of a mouth breather.....some therapy is better than no therapy. Take a look at the ResMed N30 nasal cushion (fits under the nose) mask. It's super easy to get on and sealed and certainly ...

Re: Need some member input

Maybe the problem is not new members selling something. Maybe the problem is new members buying something - they think cpaptalk's hosting of an ad is an endorsement. If that is the case, it would call for Pugsy's caveat emptor warning on each ad. I am leaning towards the warning ....or at least giv...

Re: Why is my Face Swollen?

Your home sleep study was what we call a Type 3 sleep study....it didn't measure sleep status so there's no way to know if your OSA is worse in REM or not. You would have needed a Type 2 sleep study which does measure sleep status...similar to what is done in a sleep lab setting. For details on the ...

Re: Why is my Face Swollen?

Normally we have more than one REM sleep stage during the night...so if the ugly clusters were strictly REM related I would expect to see more ugly clusters. BUT it wouldn't be impossible for the ugly cluster to be both REM related worsening OSA and a positional worsening component combination of th...

Re: Need some member input

pugsy being ripped off is the only time i can remember in five years that this happened. so it seems like it's a statistically small chance? It used to happen more often a long time ago. I remember it well. Unhappy buyers are usually real quick to voice their displeasure about anything. And we don'...

Re: Need some member input

I trust you, Pugsy. I may have met more than my share of skunks, but I believe there are more out there now than ever before. I would avoid any hinkey modes of payment. As have I but in this case wasn't any hinkey mode of payment...and pictures were provided and the rest of it all we had to go on w...

Re: Need some member input

the seller's story seemed unusual. It did indeed and that's part of the reason I elected to talk to him on the phone. But then I also know some people are really good liars....  was married to one some decades ago. As a point of history I know Carolyn has disapproved the obvious ...

Re: Making sense of the AHI number

Suppose your overall AHI is 10 per hour...mild category for sure. That's an over the entire night's average. Most likely not exactly once every 6 minutes over the whole night but suppose I come to your house and sit by your bed and every 6 minutes I poke you with a hatpin and wake you up....how do y...
