Well...what works for me may not work for thee. But at least now you know.
One thing I love about this board is that there are often many solutions to try (but you have to remember that one size doesn't always fit all).

Re: A gross question
When I first started, I went with the recommendation that most people have - use a humidifier. I have sinus problems. The humidifier seriously exacerbated all the mucus. Like you, I woke up drowning it it. So I changed my humidity to pass over. I don't turn on the humidifier, but the air "passes ove...

Re: Can anyone recommend CPAP Pillow?
As far as pillows go, I use a down pillow from LL Bean. I can squish it around my mask easily and shape it just about any way I need. I use the Nuance nasal mask for reference. There are pillows with c-shaped cut-outs on the side for larger masks - I think Amazon has them and probably CPAP.com does,...

If I didn't already have a HoZer I'd be interested. The design is well-thought out and I bookmarked it for future reference.

Re: Wake of with Sinus HEadaache every morning
I had that problem when I started CPAP. I eventually figured out that I had too much humidification. Once I turned off heated humidification and left it on pass over, my morning sinus headaches stopped. YMMV.

Re: OT--Shoulder Surgery.
My hubby had both shoulders done six months apart in one year due to a tree falling on him. Anyway, he had arthroscopic surgical repair with a nerve block. Things we learned: - sleeping in a recliner worked better than the bed at first. Then bed with extra pillows to prop up the affected arm. - most...

Re: Philips Nuance Velco Is Losing it's Gripping
Yeah, that's pretty common for any strap no matter what mask you use. I use the same mask you use and have the same problem. Like the previous poster, picking out "gunk" from the sticky-side velcro helps. Also washing your straps by hand may help - mine seem to last longer (i.e. stick better) if I w...

Re: Need Sleep Specialist for non-OSA Sleep Problem
Okay. I'm going to jump in here with what I know from my own experience. Your wife needs to find a functional medicine doctor . The issues you describe that she has are sending up all sorts of red flags for me. She has several auto-immune issues going on and conventional (allopathic) medicine is usu...

Re: Buying a machine for future use?
Eleven years ago, I bought my first machine. Two years later, the "next model" of my machine was released. I noticed in the months leading up to the new release that my old machine went down in price. The average life of a machine is said to be around 5-7 years. So... ...after about four years the "...

Re: Anyone been diagnosed with sleep apnea?
This board and the people on it can help you, but you must take the time to read, learn, and ask questions. Start with the "What a CPAP Newbie Should Know" tab and read through it. We've all been there - shock (at having SA), denial (Uh uh. No way, not me!), learning curve (questions and answers) an...

Re: CPAP PRO II
I used the CPAP PRO (original) for a couple of years. It was my first mask. It trained me to keep my mouth shut and was very comfortable for me. I quit using it when they changed one of the parts where it was less flexible and denied that they had done so (I had an old and a new part and could see t...

Re: OT-- Oval-Eight finger splint
In my experience? You can "tame" a trigger finger for awhile, but eventually you're going to have to get surgery to fix the annoying thing. It's not something that will go away. You can't take medication or rub something on it to get it to go away. I lived with a trigger thumb for 1.5 years before g...

Re: Respironics nasal pillow: how to redirect the air?
I use the Nuance Pro, it replaced the Swift FX for me. I found the Nuance was better than the Swift for not "blowing me cold" as the vent is contoured to better deflect air. You should never alter or cover the vent on any mask. NOTE! I use the Nuance in a traditional sense in that I do not route it ...
