Re: Advice on Apnea Possibly Getting Worse
once in April, once in June, and two in early August Good grief. Do you have any idea how many people have multiple wakeups every night? It's a lot of people. How about forgetting about it and just going back to sleep? Now I remember why I stopped coming here. I didn't get back to this thread soone...

Advice on Apnea Possibly Getting Worse
Hello all, long time no visit! I have had some weird issues with my CPAP therapy for several months and was wondering if you could give me advice. About a year ago I started noticing I was waking up with apnea events which was unusual for me. Turned out my old machine was randomly turning off, so I ...

Re: Weight GAIN after CPAP?
I worked hard to lose weight before I got on the CPAP. Once I began using it, I gained pretty much all that weight back despite being able to exercise more. Calories were counted the same both before and after using the CPAP. The doctor didn't seem surprised, said other patients had experienced the ...

Re: How to replace valve/elbow on Flexifit 431 FF mask
Avi123 , thank you for your help! The part that broke is the joint where those plastic leaves attach. The leaves fit in the proper groove snugly enough, but the solid plastic joint that keeps them in place broke for reasons unknown; I wasn't even touching it. I was standing nearby folding laundry, ...

Re: How to replace valve/elbow on Flexifit 431 FF mask
While the elbow is broken anyway, I might damage the mask itself. There is a double layer of plastic where the elbow goes in, and it looks like pulling the elbow out might crack the top layer which is used to hold the grey plastic hooks that the straps slide into. The 2 DMEs in town are not likely t...

Re: How to replace valve/elbow on Flexifit 431 FF mask
How do I take the old one off without breaking anything? The part that broke was the very bottom of the elbow, the rest of the elbow is still attached to the mask and it doesn't appear to pop out easily.

How to replace valve/elbow on Flexifit 431 FF mask
My most recent Fisher & Paykel Flexifit 431 mask broke after just under a month. A part of the valve just popped off and wouldn't snap back on. The online company I bought it from would only send me a replacement elbow. Not only did it take forever to get, but when I got it there were no instruction...

Re: CPAPAuction shutting down?
I doubt the shutdown of CPAPAuction was related to your specific vendor. The vendor probably didn't want to complete the sale when the site his items were sold through closed suddenly and without warning.

Re: 26-year Old Man Dies During Sleep Study
I can tell you that there is no way in the world that it was a nurse that set up my sleep study nor a nurse that watched it all night.... it was MacDonalds burger flipping teens. My first study was done at a hospital and I, too, had a young burger-flipper guy who told me first thing that he was unt...

Recent troubles with Flexifit 431 FF mask seals
Does anyone here use a Flexifit 431 FF mask? I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed a problem with their silicone seals lately, or if I've just had a spate of bad luck. Over the last few months I have had 6 new seals, 2 of which leaked from the very first moment and had to be exchanged. I got one ...

Re: Restless legs syndome is changing its name to Ekbom disease
It was known as Wittmaack–Ekbom syndrome before drug companies promoted it as Restless Leg Syndrome to try to "spread the word", i.e. sell more medication. I'm a medical transcriptionist and knew it as Wittmaack–Ekbom for a long time; you can check Wikipedia if you don't believe me. And yes, Ekbom i...

Re: anxiety and feeling out of balance
Hi Evan. What you describe with feeling like passing out and having anxiety is exactly what happened to me when I first started feeling sick about 5 years ago. Finally 2 1/2 years ago I found a new doctor who is great. My first visit, he walked in and proclaimed "Sleep apnea!" before he even said he...

Re: Cleaning Face mask
Yes. Clorox non-bleach wipes in a large canister of 70 for less than half that price at just about any grocery, pharmacy, WalMart, or Target type store. I second this. I have Flexifit 431 seals and I use whatever brand I can find, but prefer Clorox. Make sure you rinse well with cool water and let ...

Re: Discussion of Small Jaws as Cause of Obstructive Sleep Apnea
Interesting stuff, Rooster, and thanks. I had sleep problems even as a kid, and I now know in hindsight it was sleep apnea. I inherited my grandmother's mouth; that is, small jaw with a tongue that's too big (and I get sores on it constantly from where it rubs against the teeth even during rest), cr...

Re: Remstar/Respironics replacement filters cost $58?
I think the lady who said she would charge another $12 for a "point of service" charge was VERY confused, since "point of service" is a type of insurance plan. The insurance company said that when they get the new bill they'll pay $13 toward the $58, and I assume the DME knows that and overcharges o...
