Re: What's the longest use of the same machine?

I've been using my Resmed S9 every night for 10 years...don’t see the need to change it anytime soon.

Re: Contraindication : AutoPAP at High Altitude

I am a longtime APAP user and snow skier. I spend a week at Breckenridge (9500 ft altitude) during the winter and experience significantly higher AHIs (normally 2-3) in the 80-100 range. The increase is almost entirely caused by an increase in centrals. Several studies have documented this phenomena...

Re: How to adjust S9 settings for high altitude?

Thanks for the replies. I did discuss this with my Sleep Doc, but he did not have any ideas other than to avoid high altitudes, which is not a good option. Since we travel to Breckenridge every year, I would like to find a way to address this problem. Is it possible to add oxygen to CPAP therapy? If...

Re: How to adjust S9 settings for high altitude?

I ran across the following bit of information on the Mayo Clinic website that may explain the increase in Central apneas I have been experiencing. Although I am only at 9600 ft not the 15,000 feet mentioned. One of the solutions suggested is to use oxygen, although I am not sure how to do that while...

Re: How to adjust S9 settings for high altitude?

Well my results for the first night at Breckenridge (9600 ft altitude) were an AHI of 57 with 42 for Centrals. My normal AHI at home is less than 3 with Centrals around 1. Since the number of Centrals appears to be the major issue, I am somewhat reluctant to increase the pressure for fear of causing...

Re: How to adjust S9 settings for high altitude?

Thanks for the reply, although I have had a different experience. On my trip to Breckenridge last year, my nightly AHI increased from under 3 to well over 50 or 60. I assume the increase was due to the inability of the S9 Autoset to compensate for Breckenridge's 9600 ft altitude. According to the Re...

How to adjust S9 settings for high altitude?

Fellow CPAPrs, I have searched for a solid answer to this question before, but no luck. Can anyone give me opinion/guidance on how to adjust my S9 Autoset to operate at 9600 ft above sea level? I am going on a skiing trip to Breckinridge Colorado and since the S9 only auto adjusts to 8500 ft, want t...

Re: Rescan 3.11 -> 3.12

In case it helps anyone, I am running Rescan 3.12 on my Mac using Parallels 6 and Windows 7 Home edition. I download the data from my S9 Autoset using the SD card via the SD card reader on my HP printer. The only issue I initially had to overcome was getting Rescan to recognize my SD card reader. I ...

Re: Rescan 3.11 -> 3.12

I noticed that when I installed 3.12 there were 3 options to install device drivers vice the two I recall from 3.11. I don't use this option, so not sure what new USB function it really supports. I download my data on my Mac via my printers SD card slot.

Rescan 3.11 -> 3.12

For anyone interested, I downloaded Rescan 3.12 software from the link provided by Uncle Bob by changing from 3.11 to 3.12 in the link. The only change I have noticed so far was an additional option for a dedicated USB device for downloading data.

Re: Resmed Price Increase

It seems to me that imbedded in Resmed's justification to their minimum internet pricing policy is a key problem that needs to be fixed. If the prices of medical equipment are burdened with the additional cost of the supporting medical care associated with training, patient support, and periodically...

Whoops, I need to clean up those reading glasses. I noticed that the previous post indicates the medium is already spoken for.

Sorry!
