Re: Several questions please

Thanks Miss Emerita and Chunkyfrog. Sorry I went MIA. I did figure out how to change the pressure. I will try to post my equipment. Thanks again.

Several questions please

Hi. I haven't been here for awhile. I've been on pretty much the same settings for many years. I have a Resmed and am still using the original swift nasal pillows and taping my mouth closed. My setting is around 10. I have a very funky body. I have GERD, IBS, but am not on any meds for that since th...

Re: Question for those who use nasal mask and tape mouths

Thanks everyone! I saw my ear specialist and he's ordered a brain MRI......just to make sure nothing is funky. The test I took showed that I have some high frequency hearing loss in one ear, and said that the funky noises I hear are probably from that. He said if it continues to really bother me, th...

Re: Question for those who use nasal mask and tape mouths

Thanks Architect. I wish things were easy for me to think through. Yeah, my guess would probably be a sinus problem. I've had 2 sinus surgeries in the 1990s. My dilemma is: Do I see this same ENT doc who did my surgeries who is in a small town and can be obnoxious? .....or do I see the ear specialis...

Re: Question for those who use nasal mask and tape mouths

Thanks Thumper. Does that tape tend to stick? I have some I could try, but my skin is really fragile. When I first started to use tape, it was paper tape and it would tear my skin. I've tried others, but the painter's tape seems to be the least harmful......and even then it sometimes pulls my skin o...

Re: Question for those who use nasal mask and tape mouths

Hi chima2g, No, I don't use Sudafed. My system can't deal with it. When I used to try it, I felt horrible.....like really awful in my head and mentally.
Thanks for the warning though! :)

Re: 2 weeks in - Periodic Dry Mouth with mouth taped.... why?

good luck to you! I have read in the past here where people have trained themselves not to lose air through their mouth. I have absolutely no idea how that is possible when you are totally asleep. Maybe we should try to train ourselves to do that somehow. I was thinking of trying it sometime soon, t...

Re: Question for those who use nasal mask and tape mouths

Hi Thumper. Did you have the tinnitus before you started using the nasal mask with tape on your mouth? Is it pulsatile tinnitus (your heart beat is in your ears)? I have to say that although I've never used a full face mask, my nose/sinus congestion in the mornings isn't there with the nasal mask, s...

Re: 2 weeks in - Periodic Dry Mouth with mouth taped.... why?

I have always worn a nasal mask and taped my mouth for about 14 years. But......recently I noticed that I tend to blow air into my mouth and I'm sure it must stay there for awhile, all through the night. I, too, have ended up with the worst dry mouth ever. It goes away quickly once I'm up, but I'm p...

Question for those who use nasal mask and tape mouths

My slight pulsatile tinnitus and gotten really bad lately. I'm 71, so there's lots of stuff that could probably be explained as "just getting old". But I also have headaches and pain over my eyes. I'm going to see a specialist next week. But I'm wondering.........do any of you who tape your mouth fe...

Re: Question about blocked expirations

Thanks so much for your suggestions, Chris. I woke up 3 times last night with the same problem. It's all so very strange. I took off my mask for the rest of the night, and didn't have the problem. I'll try a few things to see if it helps. I've had 2 sinus surgeries about 23 years ago and haven't had...

Re: Question about blocked expirations

Thanks everyone. Chris.....I did appreciate you telling me to check my ventilation ports. That would be the obvious first step. They were all unobstructed. I have woken up 3 nights in a row with this problem, of not being able to exhale through my nose. It's very bizarre. What I did last night, was ...

Re: Question about blocked expirations

Sorry, but I haven't made any real changes since I started cpap long ago. My guess is that it's not turned on. How would that affect things? I don't have much else turned on except the pressure, a small amount of time to build up to that pressure and not many other "bells and whistles". Without sear...

Question about blocked expirations

This is curious. I've been using a Swift nasal mask and taping my mouth for about 12 years. I use a Resmed S9 machine. Recently, I've woken up at night, feeling like I can't exhale. I take a couple breaths in, then I can start to exhale. Maybe this is just a weird sleep state occurrence, but it seem...
